However, depending how loose or tight you have it in your hair also determines how much it pulls. What I do (if it’s pulling too much) is try to unwrap it at least once and then gently take it out (as opposed to pulling it out when it’s already tight and holding back my hair).

Would they be too tight for someone with a larger head

Answer:

I'd say not really. They say you shouldn't stretch them for long, so keeping them stretched while wearing would wear them out. I also don't think they'd survive lots of washing on high temp if you were to see them into the sides of a mask. They are lovely and soft, so I used them for my children, but little bits of elastic show after a single wear and they are not high quality and lasting. That said, if you are making *no sew* masks, you could swap them out every use, so depending on how long you're wearing the mask (quick in and out of grocery store or all day at work?) they could work briefly. I'd look for sturdier elastic hair bands.

We are just really careful about keeping track of them by wrapping them around the brush handle each night and use them a month at a time. After getting fed up with the Goody bands breaking and/or pulling my toddler's hair out, I bought one pack of 12, 2mm clear BLAX bands about six months ago. We use them almost every day, and we still have 3 or 4 unused ones. AND...I've NEVER had one break! It's kind of unbelievable. So, if you don't get scared away by the price, the BLAX bands are unexpectedly amazing. They are certainly step above even the old good version of the Goody Bands, but I still hold out hope that Goody will course correct and just resurrect the old version, because I'd come back just to not have to pitifully conserve hair elastics like we are doing.
