Answer: The only limit given was the weight restriction of 300 pounds. However, to answer your question, I would say: As long as the following (4) factors are meant:(1) the wood is a balanced circle (centered exactly over the turntable) and (2) the articles to be placed on the wood are perfectly distributed weight-wise and (3) the thickness of the wood is strong enough to hold the articles on it without sagging down and dragging and(4) the total weight of the wood and the articles on it weigh less than 300 pounds...then the wood could be, just to say a number--up to 10 feet in diameter.So if you want to make the top 16 inches in diameter, you just have to meet the (4) criteria above.I used mine to make a turntable of 14" of 3/4" plywood that would hold up to a 14"diameter x 8" high cake for my daughter-in-law who makes cakes.Hope that helps.
