Question:	Could this gate be used for outdoors
Answer:	To answer Anonymous re outdoor use: I bought this gate (and also a slightly different North States gate as well, in a brown metal finish) to use in place of a screen door in my rental in order to let my cat see outside and get some fresh air. I have them both installed in the same door space (one lower, one upper) . The white one has been up about 2 months and the brown one about 9 months---and after a few months, both started to get slight rust stains at the bottom ledge where the slats are welded in. However, I haven't seen the older brown gate's rust get that much worse from month 3 to now (month 9), so I'm hoping that it won't turn into structural damage.The space they're in is slightly protected but does get afternoon sun, damp winds, and rain (though not much rain in this drought year)---I live in the SF Bay Area, in the cooler coastal part of the bay so there's a fair amount of humidity but no snow, sleet, etc. If I could go back in time I'd probably spray them with some kind of sealer before putting them up, but as it is I'll probably leave them up until I move again, and then perhaps recoat with a weather-resistant spray paint when I take them down (not that they're that hard to take down, but...I'm not that motivated to do it now!).If you're considering them for outdoor use, I'd give it a try but be aware that they aren't made for it, and will probably have issues (mine are still cosmetic at this point) sooner or later, depending on your climate.
Question:	Is the latch complicated enough that my toddler won't figure it out
Answer:	The latch for North States super gate is absolutely complicated enough so your toddler won't figure it out! You have to pull down the latch lock/catch while lifting the gate up at the same time to swing it open. A toddler will not be able to do this, which after using the gate for a week, I trust the safety and easy use of the gate!
Question:	Can a cat squeeze through the spacing of the bars, or could this work as a cat barrier
Answer:	No this does not work as a cat barrier. I have a very similar gate that works fine for the cat I'm trying to contain. But I have to go much higher as she can easily jump standard height. Even after I put anti-cat sticky tape on top rung she would climb it as evidenced by bits of fur on the tape. But that one worked. As I was installing this one with Mrs Sapphire inspecting, she waited till I was working on the second level and then just stepped through. After I sighed and stopped Mrs Sapphire from chasing Mrs April I got back measured. The bars on this gate are on 3 inch centers, the bars on the prior gate were 2.75 inch centers. The 2.75inch centers seem sufficient to deter 1year old energetic Mrs Sapphire, The 3 inch centers don't even slow her down.
Question:	Is the metal in the gate magnetic? I want to put a magnet on the wall to keep it open when needed
Answer:	Top and bottom rail are magnetic. My gate does not stay perfectly flush against the wall. It will stay open however, in either direction.

Question:	Is this sturdy enough to keep a baby from falling down stairs? When closed
Answer:	It really depends, honestly. I think it would keep mine from going down the stairs, but my kids are fairly “gentle” compared to some other kids I know. Some are complete cannonballs and are hard to stop with anything other than a proper door. The manufacturer does specify a distance to be installed away from the first stair, as the barrier has a little bit of slack in it, so if clearance is tight it may not do the job.

Question:	How can I attach this to narrow spindles? My wide banister post is surrounded by narrow spindles, and I can't attach the brackets to the banister
Answer:	This is not a top-of-stairs gate. You need one that actually attaches to the wall or banister. Tension gates are not safe for top of steps.
Question:	can you put a stop on it so it only swings one direction? how easy would it be to open with arthritic hands
Answer:	My Shih Tzu and Maltese (10 lb dogs) were never able to breach the bars. We bought it for the dogs and it has been great for that.
Question:	What is the height, from the floor to the top rail of gate, after the gate has been installed
Answer:	Not, not even close. It's 58" with all extensions. I have a 60" doorway, and it's nowhere near fitting properly into the doorway. I have another Regalo gate that is smaller, for a regular sized door, so I'm familiar with how they should be installed properly to actually work. Anyone saying it fits anything bigger than 58" does not have it in properly.
Question:	Can this be installed with banister-wall without screwing into wall side
Answer:	This wrap seemed way to thick to use during warmer weather. I returned mine for that reason.

Answer:	This gate does not have an auto-close feature and the walk-thru portion of the gate will remain open when not latched as long as the gate is installed squared and leveled.

Question:	Will this fit uneven dimensions? I have a straight wall on one side and a stair rail that is 35" on the bottom and then indents to 38" at the top
Answer:	i have mine installed in an area just as you described with the exact measurements I had to put it a little higher so it would be able to be tightened in the bottom (36in)... i have moldings all up the stairs and it made it 35"....so it is not ideal to have it 2 in from the ground but i made it worked. i forgot to mention that i had the extensions on both sides

Question:	Is 28.75" the height of just the gate, or of the entire thing assembled? We have 30" to work with and the entire assembled product needs to fit within
Answer:	it's 28.75 inches tall and will work in extra wide spaces if needed.
Question:	How wide needs to be the the door frame to mount this gate
Answer:	24" per the manufacturer - although it would work I would think 25-26" would be a simpler fit.
Question:	Our banister is round, will this work for us
Answer:	We had someone install square, solid (4x4”) posts inside the top and bottom of our stairs to just use as baby/pet gate supports.
Question:	Can this be mounted on an angle
Answer:	I’m not sure what you mean by angle. One of the 3 gates that I installed was in a hallway that had 1” molding on both sides of the floor. The top of the gate is 38”across , the bottom of the gate is 36” across. There is enough adjustment in the mounting bolts that this is not a problem. The gate is level and works well.

Answer:	I’m not sure what exactly you mean. Where the two sides over lap is about 2.5 inches. The gate will open a total of 41.5 inches not counting the side bumpers that fit between door frames.

Question:	Can the baby open the gate
Answer:	No, this baby gate has a double lock + one-handed operating system. This design is to prevent newborn children from figuring out how to open it. The baby is too young to be strong enough to open this gate.
Question:	Is this gate difficult to install? I need to install it on the stairs, how to install the U-shaped bracket? Need tools
Answer:	You can install two pressure bolts on the top of the baby gate first, install 2 U-shaped supports near the handrail of the corridor, and then screw them to adjust the tightness of the gate. Note that before fixing the gate on the stairs, do not cut off the strap on the reminder card, otherwise it will increase the degree of installation of the gate. After you fix the gate, you can cut the tightening belt and slowly adjust the pressure screw to make the gap between the door lock and 1mm, which will make the door open or close better. No additional tools are needed, and one person can install it. After reading the instructions, I installed it in less than ten minutes.
Question:	What is the size between the rungs of the metal gate ? This is for my little cat
Answer:	The size between the rungs is about 2.05 inches.The pet gate I bought is for 3 of my cats. The smallest one is a 2 yr 10 pound short-haired cat with a head width of 3.8 inches. My cat cannot penetrate.

Install pressure bolt

If installed in the doorway, install 2 pressure bolts on each side of the baby door.

Install U-shaped support

If you want to install on stairs, please install 2 pressure bolts on one side of the baby gate and 2 U-shaped brackets on the railing on the other side.

Rotate and install pressure bolt

Place the baby gate on the doorway/stairway to be installed, and then rotate the pressure bolts at the left and right ends of the gate until the gate can be fixed.

Cut off the tightening band

Note: After fully assembling and fixing the 4 pressure bolts, please cut off the fastening strap.

Adjust the tightness of the bolt so that it can be opened and closed smoothly

Note: The best installation position is that the gate gap between the gate locks is 0.04 inch ( 1 mm ).

• 1. If the four pressure bolts are tightened too tightly, the gate lock will be difficult to open, and the bolts need to be loosened slightly.
• 2. If the 4 pressure bolts are too loose, the gate lock will not be locked. At this time, you may mistakenly think that the gate lock is broken, but that is not the case. You need to tighten the bolts slightly and adjust the tightness of the 4 bolts.

Answer:	It takes a little bit of time all four corners need to be loosened to remove then all four corners need to be retighten to be put back in place. If you just loosen it enough to remove then it shouldn't be that bad.

Answer:	I just installed post to post that's slightly diagonal - it worked like a charm. Had to fiddle with the door extension to make sure it locks on both top and bottom but was not too difficult to figure out

Question:	Space size between the rails? Can a small Yorkie fit through it
Answer:	I’m not sure of the exact distance between the rails, but my 20 pound German Shepherd puppy had his head get stuck between the wall and the first rail. I made a extra rail out of a piece of wood to make sure it did not happen again. I’m thinking that gap will depend on how far you need to extend the braces.
Question:	Is this gate auto close
Answer:	This gate is auto close and I have two and I love them. Then open either way and self close in either direction. Also if opened just past 90 degrees, they will stay open till given a gentil push then they self close. The product is very well engineered, well built and nicely finished. As a mechanical engineer I can see no wat to improve this product. I would recommend this gate all.
Question:	Will it fit securely on a wall that isn’t flush? I’m looking to put in doorway that has baseboards
Answer:	Yes. We have ours installed that way. The mechanisms can be adjusted accordingly. For example, the top can be extended further than the bottom one which secures to the baseboard.

Place the Gate

Tip：Don't cut the belt!

The gate you received is unassembled, tied by a belt. As installation begins, you will notice a gap (it was not broken). Do not cut the belt before you finish installing the gate - it will help you install the gate easily.

Rotate to Install

Place the gate at the hallway, doorways or stairs, rotate the bolt until the space between the handle is within 1mm. (Through reaction force the gap you saw will disappear.) You have finished the installation. (Included 4 Wall Cups and Sticky Pads will help to prevent marks, dents or scratches on walls.)

Easy to Open

Ergonomically designed. Simply hold the lock and push the switch back, lifting up the gate to open the door easily.
