Question: If it's waterproof, how is it breathable
Answer: My twins have not arrived yet, therefore they haven't used the mattresses. However, while putting the sheets on and maneuvering the mattresses into the cribs, they did not have a plasticky sound. They also felt like regular mattresses, cloth covered, not plasticky at all.

Answer: No. It is painted white. I wouldn't consider it a whitewash finish.

Answer: I received the crib in packing that was a little larger than a full sized headboard (needed room within the packing to account for padding of the pieces) . The pieces are not very bulky. Overall, it is lightweight and easy to put together. Took my husband and myself less than an hour to do it together.

Answer: It MAY be made by one of those, but the brand name is My First Mattress. VERY happy with the purchase. Regular crib mattresses, regardless of who makes them, seem to be very flimsy. Most of them have coils in them and they just don't last. I had a Sealy I had purchased and the cover tore and it was un-supportive before my grandson was even out of the crib...which is why I bought this one. I think they make them to last for just one baby and if you are getting a crib that converts to a toddler bed, you will be buying another mattress if you started with a regular crib mattress. I expect this mattress to last...and last. My crib converts to a toddler bed and to a twin. I recommend it!
Question: Is this mattress made for use by a newborn infant
Answer: It says in the description that it's "supportive for infants" but I think some parents might not want to put a newborn on it. Unlike a traditional crib mattress by any other brand, you can easily put pressure on it since it is memory foam, which might make some people uncomfortable about placing a newborn on it. When you get it, it arrives rolled up and you unroll it and release it from it's vacuum seal, just like an adult size memory foam. It is firm but again... memory foam. Personally, I love it for my 1 year old and probably would have used it for her as a six month old too, i just didn't know about it then.She sleeps on her side and often on her tummy and it doesn't seem too indent too much. She is also a very small 1 year old at only 17 lbs. When she's not on it it goes back to it's shape like an adult size memory foam. I've only been using it for a couple weeks so I don't know about longevity yet. I am expecting another baby in July and for that baby I bought a completely different, much firmer, mattress. If you're at all worried about SIDS, as I am, you might want to wait until the infant is an older baby.

Tips for unpacking your mattress:

  • Carefully remove the mattress from plastic cover protection to unroll and start the mattress decompression.
  • Allow 24 to 72 hours for the mattress to regain its full shape. It has been machine rolled and compressed for efficient delivery and will not affect its performance.
  • When delivered in cold temperatures, your mattress may take a bit longer to return to full dimensions. Allow the mattress to recover naturally.

Airing out mattress:

  • Memory foam mattresses typically have a mild residual scent – ‘new car smell’. This is sometimes heightened when delivered during cold weather.

Question: For those that have purchased this... how did a newborn sleep on this
Answer: Upon reading the description again, I don't think there is an infant side and a toddler side. They just say that because they covered the whole mattress in plastic you can use it for both infant and toddler stages. They just say to flip it so the mattress is refresh. We just received ours and we're pretty sure there isn't any difference in firmness between the two sides. Definitely no markings.
Question: What is the weight limit
Answer: I wouldn't say chemical, it smells kind of like new industrial plastic which is basically what the mattress is wrapped in.

Answer: It isn't a waterproof cover. The material the mattress is enclosed in is waterproof and does not come off. It is a part of the matttess and cleans as easy as wiping witha wet cloth. My kid had a poop party in her crib and there was feces everywhere. The mattress was much easier to clean than the kid, crib, wall, carpet, and hair. I just took some lysol wipes and wiped it down and that was done.

Answer: Well it depends on your PnP. I have a Graco model and then my in-laws have another Graco model. My Graco Pack and play is 1 inch too small for the mattress while I laws have the perfect fit! It’s very odd. I don’t know how to rationalize that. Either way, my review was to say that’s it’s a terrific mattress and if it fit in mine I would keep it.
Question: Does this properly fit a Cosco Play Yard
Answer: Depends on what you feel is safe for your baby. I’ve this one and since its double sided ive used it for my newborn straight out the hospital and for my 14th month old. (They have their own) I haven’t had any issues. My 14m sleeps on his tummy and he is doing great. I do have a waterproof mattress cover and playyard sheets cover over it all. So the folds of the mattress doesn’t show through.
