But the USB connection is for power only, so I don't see why you couldn't plug it into any USB power source, including a USB wall outlet, adapter or dongle. I'd expect that to work fine, and wouldn't, myself, hesitate to do it. But I don't know how the vendor would react if you have a problem that way.
