Question: Does the suction work on a wooden surface
Answer: I have a wooden kitchen table that has a poly seal on it and it works fine. I think you should be ok as long as it is a smooth surface, versus a true farm table with the variations in grain from the wood.

Answer: You could certainly write the contents of the bowl in the band but using a marker would make that permanent β€” maybe some type of tape. These bowls do not have lids I do t think these bowls would be appropriate for a daycare if you need to protect the contents from spilling.
Question: Why is there only one lid? I thought it came with three lids, one for each bowl
Answer: This set changed, I reordered these by clicking them in my history. The old set had 3 lids, this one only came with one.

Question: My high chair tray measures 11" x 6.75". Will the placemat still fit and stay on it, despite being longer
