Other IR measurement devices, and I have one from Etekcity that's black and yellow is good for temps from -58F to 716F degrees per the label on it. That one just measured by stover burner at 408F, plus my fridge was 40F and freezer was +3F. This one is much better for humans and the etekcity is better for no humans. I read 94F on Etekcity and 98.6F for this unit on my forehead. This is made for people.

In all honesty i have not seen a reading of 98.6 on the screen. I have seen many others like 97.5, 97.8 and so on. This thermometer is a very easy to use and extremely easy to read. see less
