4 best jump your car without jumper cable
Jump-starting a car without jumper cables typically involves using a portable jump starter or booster pack. These devices are designed to provide the necessary power to start a vehicle with a dead or weak battery. Here's what you need to know about jump-starting your car without traditional jumper cables:
Portable Jump Starters:
- A portable jump starter is a compact, battery-powered device designed for jump-starting vehicles.
- It typically consists of a battery pack, jumper cables (usually attached), and various safety features.
- These devices are available in different sizes and power ratings, so it's important to choose one that is suitable for your vehicle.
Using a Portable Jump Starter:
- Ensure that the portable jump starter is fully charged before use. Most come with built-in indicators to show the battery level.
- Turn off the ignition and any accessories in both your vehicle and the assisting vehicle (if there is one).
- Connect the red (positive) clamp from the jump starter to the positive terminal of the dead battery.
- Connect the black (negative) clamp from the jump starter to a suitable ground on the dead vehicle, such as an unpainted metal surface or a designated grounding point.
- Turn on the portable jump starter and wait a moment for it to charge the dead battery.
- Attempt to start your vehicle. If it doesn't start on the first try, wait a few minutes and try again.
- Once your vehicle starts, carefully disconnect the clamps in the reverse order: black clamp from the ground, then red clamp from the positive terminal.
- Be cautious to avoid touching the clamps together or letting them touch any metal surfaces on the vehicle during the process.
Safety Considerations:
- Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for your specific jump starter model.
- Do not attempt to jump-start a vehicle with a damaged or leaking battery, as this can be dangerous.
- If the jump starter becomes hot during use, disconnect it immediately and allow it to cool down.
- Keep the jump starter away from sparks, flames, or any flammable materials.
Maintenance:
- Regularly charge and maintain your portable jump starter to ensure it is ready for use when needed.
- Check the condition of the cables and clamps for any signs of wear or damage.
Using a portable jump starter is a convenient and safer alternative to traditional jumper cables, especially if you're in a situation where another vehicle is not readily available for a jump start. These devices are designed to be user-friendly and provide a reliable way to start your car's engine when the battery is dead or too weak to crank the engine.

User questions & answers
Question: | can you keep this jump start anywhere in your car |
Answer: | Yes, But it will be a long while for that. I worked for AAA for a little over a year and never had to put a new battery. I used it over 2000 times in a year. Now that I dont work for them anymore I got myself one of them for myself. Question: | Can we use 220 volt for charging |
Answer: | I charge mine using an Instapark Mercury27 portable foldable solar panel in conjunction with an Instapark PWM Solar Charger controller, plugged into the 12V accessory port. Works well and should be able to easily power a laptop for 2+ hours using an A/C inverter plugged into the 12V accessory port. |
Question: | why the box I received says only 1 year warranty? but the seller says offer 3 year warranty for this jump starter |
Answer: | I just look at these as a battery (about the size of what you'd see on a riding lawn mower or generator) put in an easy to carry housing. Since it's really not that big, I find the "Gives you 600 cranking amps" labels a pretty big lie (and I don't really understand where the "Peak amps" comes from with many being 2X the "cranking amps", yet this one is 4X). If you want, the OEM has described some tests done on batteries that I can share (leave a comment). I hooked up another brands unit like this to my car and disconnected the regular battery to try it out. It started the car (ford festiva 4cyl), but the starter was slow barely going. This has a 22 amp hour battery, mine was a 18 amp hour for comparison. If I had a fully drained car battery (like from a light left on all night) and left it connected while hooking up one of these, I'm afraid the drained battery would "steal" most of the charge from the jump battery and probably make both too weak to start the car in just a minute. So I'm not keeping my hopes too high on these, especially if talking about a fully drained car battery (whereas if you left lights on while in a movie for 2 hours it has a good chance of starting it). Feel free to look at reviews (both some low and high ones) and see if others suggest about the same thing. As far as "what makes it better than others?", some have a battery that's only a 9 amp hour (like the JNC300 model) and another I saw had only a 5 amp hour battery. Any 12V battery can be connected to another to help, but obviously a bigger battery has more power available and better chance of helping start a car (yet costs more too). The "auto charge" is a small charger they've built into it that includes a voltage regulator to "stop" charging it once it's full. So you can plug it in and leave it forever without damage versus older ones had to be watched and you had to pull the plug once full or you will "overcharge" it. Perhaps with the slow charge (often needing several hours) too many people would leave it overnight or more, end up "overcharging" and then complain, so they made it more "foolproof" (but again adding some cost). Some of these from other OEMs have a USB port for charging phones or such added, but this one doesn't (just a lighter outlet and the cables as the only way to connect to it's battery). Others often have a switch that turns off the cables with a "reverse connection alarm" built in (to tell you if you hooked it up wrong before turning it on), but this doesn't have such making it's battery size almost the only advantage. |
Question: | Can you use the 12v output as a car memory saver during a battery change (with an obdii adaptor)? if so how long would it supply power |
Answer: | This has an AGM battery that is 12V inside it, so yes it can be connected to another such battery (and it doesn't matter whether you're using it for "jumpstarting" a car or for adding time to how long a deep cycle battery will last, it does all of the above). Just beware that the battery inside this may not be as powerful as it's made to sound. It's actually rated "22 amp-hour" hinting it can supply 1 amp for 22 hours (at 12V), or 2 amps for 11 hours, or 3 amps for 7 hours, etc. Many deep cycle batteries (that are about the same size as a car battery) can supply 6 amps for 8 hours, so this is about 1/2 the power (and 1/2 the weight). |

User questions & answers
Question: | can these be charge under 220v (outside US |
Answer: | i have had no problems leaving in a glass box - car with windows all the way up. think it may drain the internal battery a touch but nothing serious. instead of having 5 day charge, you may have 4 days 22 hours or so |
Question: | Has anyone used this product to jumpstart a full-size SUV with success |
Answer: | I dont have this one, but I do have the last version, and after taking mine apart, here is what I can say. While there are lights on the front that tell you when the battery is full, I have found not proof or evidence of any float in it to keep it from over charging. My opinion, while it should not hurt much to leave it is for a short period of time after it is fully charged, I would keep somewhat in mind to make sure that it is not left charging for extended lengths of time. Doing so can damage the battery in it. If you do damage the battery in it, replacement batteries can be bought and installed for around half the price of one of these. I just replaced the battery in mine, and for mine, I found some cheap, made in china ones for about $30. I found one that was made in the USA for just a few dollars more. All that there is to replacing the battery is to take the screws out that hold the front and back together, which should be around 8 screws, the two pieces should come apart, and the battery should be right there. The battery will be attached to the wires by a nut and bolt on each terminal. That is it. and just in case you are wondering, the battery in mine was a 19ah, 12v battery.. but the 18ah ones are easier to find. The size of mine is about 6.5" x 7" x 3", or something like that. and mine is the same overall type/design/rating as this one. Just without the USB ports. but you would have to verify that they still use the same battery if you do choose to replace yours in the future. Also, as to the charging thing. Some people say to charge it once a month. Personally, i feel that is a bit much. I say to charge it when it is getting a bit low. Why do I say this.. because these types of batteries do not really loose much power over time, if not being used. Even the manufacturers of the batteries for these say that you only need to top the battery off, once every 6 to 12 months, if the battery is just sitting on the shelf. So I see no reason why, if you are not using the jumper at all, why you would need to charge it every month. If the battery is at, say 90%, then it is still fine to leave alone (unless you know you are going to need it very soon, and quite a few times at that), but if it gets to maybe 75%, I say charge it to top it off. Dont forget, since the batteries in these are the same type as what is in a car, you just don't want to let it get too low. If you do let it get too low, that can ruin the battery, just like how it will in a car. |
Question: | What is the starting current for this device |
Answer: | For a battery of this size, I'd not go over 240 watt inverter. Actually, you can use any inverter (I got a 400 watt unit that came with a lighter plug as well as other wires), but I'd not connect up a load greater than that ~240 watts. I have at least 2 reasons. First, the lighter outlet that you'll likely want to use is for sure intended for under 20 amps (and maybe fused for only 10 amps). Secondly, the battery is likely rated "18 amp-hour" hinting it can give you 18 amps for 1 hour, or 9 amps for 2 hours, etc. For something needing just 1 amp at 120V the inverter will pull 10 amps at 12V from the battery making it last under 2 hours (or under 1 hour for 2 amps at 120V). I recommend against pulling power faster than it's rating (~20 amps) since I've seen statements in manuals like "Don't crank a car for even 5 seconds because the battery will overheat internally" and I think you're pushing your luck to expect more than that continuously. |
Question: | Is there a warranty? If so, how long |
Answer: | Mine wont. I have a Dodge 3500 5.9l....My charger is brand new and fully charged. It won't even hold a no load charge over night. |
