Question:	I have a 130amp alternator. will the 60amp renogy dcdc charger be too large and damage the alternator? how about at idle for up to 1 hour
Answer:	I had a 40A on my 160 amp alternator and noticed a straining noise after a few months that has since gone away after removal of the Renogy. Alt. runs at about 50% when idle, so it would theoretically cover it, but you're not leaving much left for the vehicle systems. I would step down to a 40 or even a 20.
Question:	At 40A, I'll have to run the engine for 2.5 hours to charge a 100 amp hour battery (from completely drained). Correct
Answer:	In principle yes, however, it will probably take twice that long for a "full charge." From the discharged state it will charge at 40 amps but it will reduce the charge rate for best charging and battery life. You don't want to run from full to empty and back every day. I have your configuration (100 amp hour battery and 40 amp charger). I drive 40 miles every day and it is enough to charge the battery for my CPAP and other medical devices for the night.
Question:	What size alternator do you need for this to work
Answer:	I use the 40A version on my Chevy Express with 145 amp alternator. It works fine so long as you're not over-taxing your alternator by trying to heavily charge your engin battery or run full accessories in low speed or idle conditions. For that reason I installed an "ON/OFF" switch in line so I can leave it off at the start of driving to give the alternator time to top out my engine battery. Then, I can switch it on and charge my rv lithium batteries at 40 amps. No problems doing it this way.
Question:	Where does the D+ wire get mounted to? I can interpret the instructions in three different ways, so I am curious what you all have done
Answer:	The D+ wire is a + voltage sensor to turn on the DC to DC Charger only when engine is running. The D+ wire gets hooked up to the fuse panel's ACCESSORY fuse slot, where Accessories only gets +12VDC when engine is running. Use an ATC Fuse Tap with crimp type "blue" butt connector connected to the D+ wire, insert 2 of the same Amp fuses into the 2 fuse tap slots required for your vehicle's Accessories. Although the D+ wire draws no current, it detects when a + voltage is present, the fuses protects vehicle's Accessories. It works.

Answer:	The clamps are metal on the inside (obviously), and a durable plastic on the outside as insulating covers. Looks to be pretty durable, I've had no problems with them. But then, I tend to take care of my toys! :-) This unit, by the way, was an excellent investment...after having owned several less-capable chargers. This one restored my Yellow Top battery back to its full capacity in short order! I own a Tahoe Hybrid and had installed the Yellow Top as a result of standard batteries not holding a full charge after a year or two, and often draining when not running the Tahoe at least once every 4-5 days or so. Can connect full-time to the battery the accompanying cable, making the use of clamps unnecessary! Just have to remember to unplug it!

Answer:	You may need to go to any auto parts store and get a a pair of larger ring terminal connectors and replace the originals (cut the ring terminal connectors off, strip 3/8" wire insulation and crimp or solder on new ring terminal connectors with the larger hole ID from the auto parts store), which are intended for motorsports applications 6mm dia.
