Answer:	Yes it could charge three or four 12V batteries as long as you wire them in parallel. When you wire parallel the voltage stays the same. if you wire in series it doubles. Since this charger will do 24V as well, the other post about charging two 12v batteries in series is also correct and no issue. Keep in mind, the more batteries, the slow you will charge them. This is no different concept than we use with large solar power battery banks.

(not one who's positive an negation plates show continuity) When testing, do not test for long, as putting the charger in an open circuit with no battery regulation is not god for it. for a few seconds won't harm it.

Answer:	The clamps are metal on the inside (obviously), and a durable plastic on the outside as insulating covers. Looks to be pretty durable, I've had no problems with them. But then, I tend to take care of my toys! :-) This unit, by the way, was an excellent investment...after having owned several less-capable chargers. This one restored my Yellow Top battery back to its full capacity in short order! I own a Tahoe Hybrid and had installed the Yellow Top as a result of standard batteries not holding a full charge after a year or two, and often draining when not running the Tahoe at least once every 4-5 days or so. Can connect full-time to the battery the accompanying cable, making the use of clamps unnecessary! Just have to remember to unplug it!

Answer:	On the SC1285 the 40 AMP boost is not a typical charge. This is just to get the battery level up but not to fully charge. Please use the charge setting which is 6A2A

7-STAGE CHARGING AND MAINTENANCE MODES

1. Desulphation: Pulse charges the battery to break down the build-up of lead sulphate crystals. Lead sulphate crystals can occur when a battery has been discharged or left unused for a period of time, seriously affecting the performance and lifespan of the battery.

2. Soft Start: A slow steady buildup of the charging process that limits the power supplied to protect the battery.

3. Bulk Charge: The main part of the charging process where 80% of the charge is applied.

4. Absorption: Fully charges the battery by slowly reducing the charge rate to allow the battery to absorb more power.

5. Battery Test: An automatic test to determine the battery condition after charging. If further charging is required, the Recondition stage is selected. If fully charged, the battery goes into Float status.

Answer:	Smart chargers are actually stupid. Dead batteries build an oxidation on the plates that prevent it from taking a charge. If you put another battery in parallel and charge the two, often times overnight you'll find it takes a charge. The "smart" chargers see nothing going, and gives up. The parallel method keeps 13.6 volts on the dead one, and it eventually overcomes the oxidation and charges.
