| Answer: | The clamps are metal on the inside (obviously), and a durable plastic on the outside as insulating covers. Looks to be pretty durable, I've had no problems with them. But then, I tend to take care of my toys! :-) This unit, by the way, was an excellent investment...after having owned several less-capable chargers. This one restored my Yellow Top battery back to its full capacity in short order! I own a Tahoe Hybrid and had installed the Yellow Top as a result of standard batteries not holding a full charge after a year or two, and often draining when not running the Tahoe at least once every 4-5 days or so. Can connect full-time to the battery the accompanying cable, making the use of clamps unnecessary! Just have to remember to unplug it! |

| Answer: | Yes it could charge three or four 12V batteries as long as you wire them in parallel. When you wire parallel the voltage stays the same. if you wire in series it doubles. Since this charger will do 24V as well, the other post about charging two 12v batteries in series is also correct and no issue. Keep in mind, the more batteries, the slow you will charge them. This is no different concept than we use with large solar power battery banks. |

7-STAGE CHARGING AND MAINTENANCE MODES
1. Desulphation: Pulse charges the battery to break down the build-up of lead sulphate crystals. Lead sulphate crystals can occur when a battery has been discharged or left unused for a period of time, seriously affecting the performance and lifespan of the battery.
2. Soft Start: A slow steady buildup of the charging process that limits the power supplied to protect the battery.
3. Bulk Charge: The main part of the charging process where 80% of the charge is applied.
4. Absorption: Fully charges the battery by slowly reducing the charge rate to allow the battery to absorb more power.
5. Battery Test: An automatic test to determine the battery condition after charging. If further charging is required, the Recondition stage is selected. If fully charged, the battery goes into Float status.
6. Recondition: Unique charge state to recover deeply discharged batteries.

But then, I tend to take care of my toys! :-) This unit, by the way, was an excellent investment...after having owned several less-capable chargers. This one restored my Yellow Top battery back to its full capacity in short order! I own a Tahoe Hybrid and had installed the Yellow Top as a result of standard batteries not holding a full charge after a year or two, and often draining when not running the Tahoe at least once every 4-5 days or so. Can connect full-time to the battery the accompanying cable, making the use of clamps unnecessary! Just have to remember to unplug it! |

| Answer: | It is a smart charger in that it uses a "proprietary Multi-phase charging process". According to the packaging, it's a 7 phase charging process where some phases are constant current and some are constant voltage. In one of the phases (phase 6) it does out a load on the battery and then recharges it. It also has a soft start mode to recover deeply discharged batteries and a battery recondition mode, which I assume is to restore sulphate batteries. I'm not familiar with the 12/16 amp chargers so I can only assume that the difference is the maximum charging current. The PL2320 is a very nice charger. I mainly use it as a maintenance charger on one of my lesser used cars and it works great. |

| Answer: | The reason it shows that the battery is 100% charged, is because the voltage of the battery hasn't dropped down to its "resting" voltage. It still has a "float" charge which WILL decrease and be completely gone in about 3hrs. So when you unplug the charger and plug it back in, the charger thinks you're trying to charge a battery that is already fully charged because it has +13.0 volts (float voltage). Lead acid batteries are 100% charged at +12.6 volts (resting voltage), AGM batteries are 100% charged at +12.8 volts (resting voltage).Basically if you unplug the battery while it's still charging, you have to wait for the battery to get back down to its resting voltage for the charger to know the exact condition of the battery which takes about +2-3hrs. If it's your car battery you can just turn your lights on for 15-20 minutes without the engine running and stick it back on the charger. You'll see it start back at the actual % charge of the battery. Hope this helped. |

| Answer: | I have both Ctek and NOCO. I would recommend both based on how they have performed for me. I have 3 Cteks. Two are the low amp models. I use them to keep my motorcycle batteries charged when not riding. The first one finally quit on me after 13 years of continual use. I think I got my money's worth for it. I also bought a 3.8 amp Ctek several years ago to maintain my 12 volt RV battery. I have changed that over to a NOCO G15000 because I converted my RV battery to two 6 volt in series for 12 volts at 225 ah. At the time Ctek had nothing to handle that. I bought the NOCO for the AMPs and its recondition mode. The recondition mode is 4 hours or less. The only drawback to the NOCO is most of the accessory cables they sell are for the lower amp chargers. So check that out on NOCO's website it you want any of the accessory cables. I also use my NOCO for my other cars, one has an AGM battery and my truck that has two batteries. The higher amp charger chargers then quickly. I am now buying the Ctek MXS 7.0 or Multi 7002 to deal with my RV batteries because they will handle the 225 ah of the RV battery. I hope this will help you out. I think both are great chargers. |

The car battery charger can charge small electronic devices via USB ports, but the charging circuitry that controls, monitors and limits the amount of current that goes to charge these devices is in the small electronic device itself. Customer support might be able to give you a better answer. The customer support number for the car battery charger is listed as 1 (888) 965-5888 in the user guide. |

However since the power pack is only a little larger than a cell phone it is easy to get it within a couple of inches of the battery posts so the cables do not have to be long to reach.
