Given that these pen bodies are prone to splitting from over tightening of the threads while removing the pen tip, I’d think it’s crazy not to replace the entire pen considering this pricing if for no other reason but having a spare pen body for the time of their wearing out.

Answer:	According to the manual (which I found a copy here http://www.jetpens.com/Product/viewManual?products_id=6537 ) you engage the pencil then separate the two halves by screwing them apart and then pull out the pencil mechanism and load from the back of it. I do agree that putting no more then 3 leads does make it work better.Hope that helpsSam
