14 best emu oils
Emu oil is a natural product derived from the fat of the emu, a large flightless bird native to Australia. It has gained popularity in the realm of skincare, body care, and beauty personal care due to its potential benefits. Here's what you should know about emu oil in these contexts:
Moisturizing Properties: Emu oil is renowned for its excellent moisturizing capabilities. It contains essential fatty acids like oleic acid and linoleic acid that help hydrate the skin. This makes it a popular choice for people with dry or dehydrated skin, providing relief from dryness and flakiness.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Emu oil contains compounds with anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce skin inflammation and redness. It is often used by individuals with conditions like eczema or psoriasis to alleviate symptoms.
Wound Healing: Some studies suggest that emu oil may facilitate wound healing. It can be applied to minor cuts, burns, and abrasions to potentially speed up the healing process and reduce the appearance of scars.
Pain Relief: Emu oil is sometimes used topically for its potential analgesic (pain-relieving) effects. It may help alleviate joint and muscle pain when massaged onto sore areas.
Skin Health: Emu oil contains antioxidants that can protect the skin from oxidative damage. Regular use may contribute to healthier-looking skin and delay signs of aging.
Hair Care: Emu oil can be used as a hair conditioner and scalp treatment. It moisturizes the scalp and may improve the overall health and appearance of hair.
Anti-Aging: Due to its moisturizing and antioxidant properties, emu oil is often included in anti-aging skincare routines. It may reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Acne Management: Emu oil is non-comedogenic, meaning it is unlikely to clog pores. Some individuals with acne-prone skin find it beneficial for moisturizing without exacerbating breakouts.
Sunburn Relief: Emu oil's moisturizing and anti-inflammatory qualities may provide relief from sunburned skin. However, it should not replace sunscreen as a preventive measure.
Hypoallergenic: Emu oil is generally considered hypoallergenic, making it suitable for sensitive skin. Nevertheless, it's wise to conduct a patch test before using it on a larger area, especially if you have skin sensitivities or allergies.
While emu oil has a long history of traditional use for various skincare and body care purposes, it's important to remember that individual reactions can vary. Furthermore, more scientific research is needed to fully understand the extent of its benefits and mechanisms of action. As with any skincare product, it's a good practice to consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional if you have specific concerns or conditions.

Answer: | I have bought 2 brands, one had a faint smell and the other didn't; I liked the one that did, but the smell never increased! The one you ordered, I had also ordered, But never received it, money refunded, have NO clue what happened; I've not been much help, But if the smell increases anymore, Contact the Company!!!! Somethings wrong!!! |
Question: | Why does it smell so bad |
Answer: | Product, emu oil in general needs to be in cool or cold environment at ALL times. If it smelled bad when you FIRST received it, contact the seller and tell them about it. High quality good oil has a very subdued odor. If it was ordered and shipped on very warm days it could affect it and cause that problem. I have been buying and using emu oil for many years. |
Question: | Were the emus that were raised to make this oil given antibiotics or steroids |
Answer: | No antibiotics or steroids were used |
Question: | Is it 100% emu oil, or has any other ingredient |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product AEA certified |
Answer: | Hi Khosgie, Thanks for your question! The oil does come from an AEA certified processing facility and is the highest quality but we don't carry the stamp because we don't hold that extra certification as the packaging facility. Thanks for your question! Leven Rose |
Question: | Where is you emu oil produced and bottled |
Answer: | https://thepailife.paiskincare.com/2015/02/03/yes-emu-oil-actually-comes-from-emus/ |
Question: | How much hair growth would happen if I used it as massage oil all over body? Is it USDA organic |
Answer: | I've been using Emu Oil on my face (many other uses) every morning for years. I LOVE it! I know for a fact that Emu Oil promotes hair growth because I now have more hairs that grow on face and neck (I just pluck them lol) for me the benefits out weigh that small problem. I think you have to use it every day for a long time for hair growth, so a massage should be fine. |
Question: | How would this be used on acne? My oldest daughter has recently started to have problems with acne. Should it be applied directly or mixed |
Answer: | you can apply it directly, it is easily absorbed by the skin and not oily. I usually apply it at night and morning make sure your skin is clean before applying it, it acts as my sunblock too. |

User questions & answers
Question: | lichen |
Answer: | Can you please explain more your question? Are you referencing lichen sclerosis? |
Question: | Does anyone use this for oil cleansing? If so how do you use it |
Answer: | My wife uses the Emu Oil as a moisturizer on her face. She tells me that the oil could very well be used as cleanser, however the cost may be prohibitive. |
Question: | Can this use for style hair like gell |
Answer: | No but it does promote hair growth. |
Question: | WHAT IS THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF EMU OIL |
Answer: | The primary purpose of emu oil is for emu ranchers to make back the loss from raising the birds for meat, which never caught on. They were bashing in the bird's head out of frustration for lost profits until one of the ranchers came up with the idea of promoting part of the emu as a health/beauty product. There is absolutely NOTHING about emu oil that is is miraculous in any way. If you think it works, it is likely some other ingredient that is efficacious and NOT the emu oil.Emu oil is actually very close to human sebum and, hence, our skins will easily absorb and process it. It contains essential fatty acids: linolenic, linoleic, oleic, and palmitic. Linolenic (omega-3 EFA) and linoleic (omega-6 EFA). Oleic is a known to have anti-inflammatory properties, but so are a lot of things. However, they have to kill the emus to get this. While some may be killed for their meat and the oil is obtained secondarily, some are killed just for their fatty oil. People jumped into emu farms hoping to make a fast buck and ended up bashing in the birds heads with baseball bats when their investments went nowhere. Out of this frustration and desperation came this myth about emu oil. Another myth is any kind of emu regulatory agency!I prefer Emulator Oil, from Skin Actives. In my opinion, superior in every way to emu oil and NO animal cruelty: Almond seed oil, palm oil, shea butter, flax seed, rosehip and pomegranate oil, sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), borage, foraha, kukui (Aleurite moluccans) nut and babassu (Orbignya oleifera) oils; mango, pumpkin seed, kokum (Garcinia Indica) and tucuma (Astrocaryum tucuma) butter, pomegranate (Punica Granatum) Seed Oil and astaxanthin and tocotrienols and lycopene and alpha D-Tocopherol and thioctic Acid and lutein. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the vitamin E in this oil derived from soy |
Answer: | Pro Emu - Emu Oil uses .0023% vitamin E derived from Rosemary as an anti-oxidant to increase shelf life. |
Question: | What is the shelf life of Pro Emu Oil |
Answer: | Pro Emu Oil has a shelf life of 3 years from the time it is refined. Pro Emu Oil is typically sold to the consumer within 2 months of being refined. |
Question: | Is this item mixed with ANY other oil |
Answer: | They are actually being very transparent. By law in an ingredient is under .05% you don't have to list it at all since it is considered negligible in it's effect. So other brands may also have Vit E in it but they don't list it. Vit E is a preservative, unsaturated fats can go rancid quickly so many manufacturers will use a preservative to help improve shelf life. Preservatives get a bad rap but not all are bad, some like rosemary extract are really just concentrated anti-oxidant. Have you ever bought a product with almond oil in it and it smelt "funky" that is because almond oil goes rancid very quickly and many natural products do not use preservative, almond oil can go rancid even before it hits the store shelves but it wont "stink" for a few weeks. I am a product formulator for natural products, I hope this info was helpful. |
Question: | is this an undiluted oil |
Answer: | n addition to the emu oil it contains .00022% natural vitamin E oil for freshness. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work on Plantar Fasiaitis |
Answer: | No- plantar fasciitis is not a condition that any topical treatment will help - this has to do with weight distribution on your feet. An orthotic will help the most with this. |
Question: | How does this compare to Penetrex cream for pains and neuropathy? Both creams are pricey |
Answer: | I have also used both, Penetrex and Blue Emu- I have Fibromyalgia and I could actually feel the Blue Emu working to relieve my pain. No relief with Penetrex. Keep in mind, all creams work differently for each person. |
Question: | does this work |
Answer: | it worked well for me on just my hip joints but then I used it on hip joints, shoulders, and of course i used my hands to rub it in . When I had it one 6 areas I had a very horrible reaction within 2 hours. I got rashes all over my thighs and legs, my hands, and arms. Also, I got a horsey, sore laryngitis throat and could hardly swallow. I did not panic and did a google search.Apparently this can occur if you rub the Blue Emu on larges areas of skin and I did not see any warning on label. SO, BUYER BEWARE. |
Question: | Are any Blue Emu's harmed when they squeeze the oil out of them |
Answer: | Yes! They must slaughter the emu to get the oil out of the meat. In the comments, there is a link to an article stating this fact. But here is the link again: ehow.com/how-does_4925446_how-emu-oil-extracted.html |

- All natural Emu Oil with no additives of any kind. Produced in the U.S. from emus raised on American farms under contract to ensure that only the highest standards of health and safety are used.
- Batches produced monthly to ensure freshness. Each batch analyzed at an independent laboratory for compliance with international standards for pure emu oil. Our emu oil is almost white, and has a rich, thick consistency. Odor ranges from undetectable to low, depending on time of the year. If some odor is detected it will dissipate quickly upon application.
- Use to fight dryness, itching, sore muscles, and aching joints, and as powerful skin and hair moisturizing antiaging oil with anti blemish and anti wrinkle actions
- Watch for adulteration, common with emu oil. A yellow to brown color should be a warning sign, and sellers should provide analytical data and certificates of analysis showing that the product is pure
- Our customers report better results with our fully refined emu oil than with many expensive creams, lotions, and balms
User questions & answers
Question: | Is it the emu oil AEA certified |
Answer: | No because we believe that the AEA certification is insufficient, particularly when it comes to country of origin. We conduct our own process that goes from the farm to the refinery. |
Question: | Will it help grow eyelashes |
Answer: | We are uncomfortable making hair growth claims for our product. Although many customers have reported positive results, we don't understand how it works and we don't make any claims regarding hair growth. |
Question: | Is the animal harmed in the process of extracting the oil from their body |
Answer: | The better question to ask is how many emus were killed to make all those bottles of emu oil? The answer is a LOT. Thank you for having the decency to care enough to ask about this. Most people do not. Here is what you need to know about this stuff. BIRDS ARE KILLED TO MAKE IT. If any company tells you their birds are not harmed in the production of emu oil, they are LYING. Emus are large flightless birds, native to Australia. The oil sac is under the skin on its back and helps the parent survive while it is sitting on its eggs. They are the second largest bird next to the ostrich in the ratite family. A number of years ago, some people decided to make a lot of money in emu ranching, killing the birds for their meat. A lot of people lost a lot of money when this didn't go over, some of them taking baseball bats to the birds in anger and frustration over the loss of money. Then someone got the idea of promoting emu oil. Various brands are out there promoting this stuff for everything from skin moisturizing to hair care to health issues. It's just like all the "red krill oil" flooding TV commercials or killing rhinos for their horns for aphrodisiacs. Completely worthless. This oil is found in a sac inside the bird along its back and is described as similar to human sebum. The oil from emus is just like the oil from your skin. Would you kill a human just to rub the oil from their sebaceous glands on you under the guise of "health"?Some birds are still killed for meat, and the oil obtained for health and beauty products is secondary (not unlike leather in the cattle industry). Some are killed ONLY for their oil. However, there is NO WAY that this oil can be obtained without killing the bird. It cannot be humanely liposuctioned or gotten in any other way. This is verifiable thought the regulatory counci for emu oil, such as it is (a bunch of emu ranchers, basically!).There is nothing magical or miraculous about emu oil. There are, in fact, other oils that ARE humane, non-animal and are a much better and beneficial combination of natural oils (some have names like Emulator Oil or Emulate Oil; others are just different oils altogether, like coconut oil, etc.).For anyone who is vegetarian, vegan or who simply has the intelligence to understand that it just isn't necessary to kill a bird for beauty care, this is important information to know. Question: | Has anyone used this product for plantar fasciitis |
Answer: | It's not going to help plantar faciitis or anything else. Product features
A Traditional Natural Hair and Skin Moisturizer
Emu Oil is a traditional Australian Aboriginal oil and natural skin and hair moisturizer. It is also known to be excellent for joint pain relief, hair growth, as anti-aging oil, stretch marks, and to assist with the dryness associated with some skin conditions. Our emu oil is produced from birds raised on U.S. farms. Each batch is sent to independent laboratory to verify compliance with the international rules for the composition and physical properties of pure Grade A emu oil. Our emu oil is fully refined and contains all natural ingredients, including vitamins, minerals, and the essential fatty acids Omega 3 and 6.
How to Use
Our pure oil is effective, natural, and simple and meant to be used in very small amounts. This oil is highly penetrating to the skin and highly effective as topical moisturizer. It is non-comedogenic (does not clog pores) and hypoallergenic.
Our oil is for external use only on hair or unbroken skin. If after any application it feels greasy, it means you have used too much. Spread a few drops into the palm of your hand and apply to face, neck and body as required. The oil will absorb rapidly.
For all-body treatment, we recommend one teaspoon in the bath.
As leave in hair conditioner, spread 2-3 drops into your palm, start at the tip of hairs and work towards the scalp.
As treatment for dry or damaged hair, spread 5-6 drops into your palm according to length and thickness of hair, start at the tip of hairs and work towards the scalp, massaging thoroughly. Optionally, use a shower cap to protect and wait 10-30 min. Rinse with a very mild shampoo such as our Emu Oil Shampoo.

User questions & answers
Question: | I see the shipping weight is 7 ounces, what size is the bottle? does it have a dropper or pump |
Answer: | Hi T.The bottle holds 4 ounces of Emu Oil. Hope this answers your question!Best,AJ |
Question: | How is the emu oil harvested/made |
Answer: | No, it's not cruelty free.https://thepailife.paiskincare.com/2015/02/03/yes-emu-oil-actually-comes-from-emus/I just can't buy this product when there are so many beneficial nonanimal oils, like olive oil, sunflower oil, argan oil, moroccan oil, coconut oil, etc, available. There's simply no reason. They may be raised for a food source, but when is the last time you ate emu? |
Question: | Has anyone tried it for hair growth. I lossed temendous amount of year over the past year. Looking for an oil which is best for hair growth |
Answer: | I spray in Magnesium oil first and then apply the Emu Oil as it absorbs quickly and aids the absorption of the Magnesium. Both together are great for hair growth! |
Question: | Ladies, given that everyone is saying that this stuff makes your hair, eyelashes, eyebrows grow, does it make your other facial hair grow as well |
Answer: | No, it does not make body hair grow. It doesn't so much as make your eyelashes, eyebrows and hair (on head) "grow" as it does nourish the hair and hair follicles so the hair that is there does not break or fall out. There are no hormones in emu oil, nor anything that would stimulate hormones which is the only thing that will influence body hair (unlike soy oil, which does influence your hormones and affect body hair) |
