Dynamat is a brand known for its automotive sound deadening and insulation products. These products are designed to reduce noise, vibrations, and heat inside vehicles, resulting in a quieter and more comfortable driving experience. Here's what you need to know about Dynamat sound deadeners:
Sound Deadening: Dynamat sound deadeners are made from specialized materials, typically consisting of viscoelastic layers, adhesive backings, and foil facings. These materials work together to dampen vibrations and reduce airborne and structural noise in vehicles.
Noise Reduction: By applying Dynamat sound deadening products to various parts of a vehicle, such as the doors, floor, roof, and trunk, you can significantly reduce road noise, engine noise, and external sounds. This results in a quieter interior cabin, making it easier to enjoy music and conversations while driving.
Vibration Control: In addition to reducing noise, Dynamat products also help control vibrations. This can lead to a smoother and more comfortable ride, as well as prevent rattling and resonance caused by vibrating car panels and components.
Heat Insulation: Some Dynamat products also offer thermal insulation properties. They can help reduce heat transfer into the vehicle, keeping the interior cooler in hot weather and improving climate control efficiency.
Installation: Installing Dynamat sound deadeners typically involves cleaning and preparing the surface, cutting the material to fit the desired area, and then applying it with the adhesive backing. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance.
Automotive Applications: Dynamat products are commonly used in various automotive applications, including cars, trucks, SUVs, and even classic or custom vehicles. They are particularly popular among car audio enthusiasts looking to improve the sound quality of their audio systems.

Question: | how many boxes wil i need for a 1957 ford fairlane 500. I want to do complete floor and trunk as well as headliner doors and inside finder in trunk ar |
Answer: | Number of sheets in the stack 9Sheet Size 29x20 inchTotal coverage area of 36 sq.feetPack 36 sqft has two times more sheets in size than a pack of 18 sqft |
Question: | I have a carrier comfort apu 2 cylinder kubota diesel generator mounted to the side of my big rig approximately 95 decimals how much reduction |
Answer: | If you look to eliminate the road, engine noise and metal vibrations then Noico 80 mil material is the way to go. You are to install Noico 80 mil to such key areas, as floorboards, doors, firewall, roof, trunk + trunk lid, rear deck. We recommend to carefully prepare the metal surface before installation of deadener to it. That would include thoroughly cleaning, drying and degreasing the metal surface before installing the sound deadening to it. You are also to firmly roll down the sound deadening mats to the metal surface with aid of roller. *Ambient temperature upon installation should be not less than 60 degrees F. If a temperature is lower than 60 degrees F then you are to preheat both, metal surface and even deadening pads up to 60 degrees F. That will largely enhance an adhesion and overall effect. |
Question: | Is this enough for 1980 camaro floor? if i isolating the whole car (t tops) how many of that do i need |
Answer: | Insulating the wheel wells, floorboards, firewall and doors would certainly decrease the high pitch noise but it won't totally cancel that. It appears that the source is tyres themselves. Sound deadening works more towards low frequency resonance elimination. Please note that all of our sound deadening materials are to be installed from the interior side only. |
Question: | CHEN: Does this package come with enough to do my whole car? 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe ?How much package |
Answer: | Unfortunately Noico 80 mil wont work in this case because the noise is caused by the fan movement and it is actually a flow of air that you get to hear and it can't be remedied with this material. |

Stop fighting engine rumble, speaker rattle, road noise and buzzing vehicle parts! Apply Dynamat Xtreme to your vehicles resonant surfaces and enjoy improved clarity, loudness and bass response from your car stereo. High-performance Dynamat Xtreme is lighter than Dynamat Original, four times more effective, requires no heat to apply and is recommended for vehicle tops, sides and contoured areas. Dynamat Xtreme is coated with aluminum for high temperature areas such as firewalls and floors. Why does your car stereo sound louder when you pull off the freeway and come to a stop? Road noise steals much of the listenable portion of your music. At 70 mph, a typical automotive noise level of 85 dB leaves you with only 20 dB of listenable music. Applying Dynamat creates a "sonic barrier" restoring 3, 6, even 12 dB of lost dynamic range. Gaining just 3 dB doubles your effective amplifier power. And that means you hear more music. Kit contains four 12" x 36" (305mm x 914mm) pieces of Dynamat Xtreme and includes enough material for two standard size doors.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will it stick to wood surface and metal surface |
Answer: | It's 36 square feet. 36 - '1 foot by 1 foot' sections. Measure it. It depends on how well your going to cover everything. I covered every square inch of my vehicle including wheel wells, under carpet, rear hatch, 2 layers on the doors, and my hood and used 3 bulk kits. Didn't get to do my headliner and that would probably be 1/2 kit or a little more. You could also get away with just covering large open areas and use less. If I were you get 3 or 4 and you can do your fenders and hood too. |
Question: | Hi, Is this the original silver version or the new black |
Answer: | Normal Dynamat Xtreme will help reduce resonance of the metal. However, it will not really stop the low frequency pulses that the Kubota will generate. If you want to try blocking this type of noise, you are better off using the the Dynapad product and line all the floors and walls of your cab. The Dynapad does not have self-adhesive side, so you will have to use some kind of glue or adhesive to apply it to the vertical walls. However, this is likely the best you can do inside a vehicle. It's 3/8" thick and pretty heavy weight. If you don't want to do this, you can try the 1/2" Dynaliner, which does have an adhesive sticker backing and it's lighter, but will not block as much low frequency pulses. |
Question: | can you use this on your exhaust muffler |
Answer: | I used 2 boxes to do the whole floor , all 4 doors and the back of the cab in an Ford. F 350 truck |
Question: | I have a Gas Club Car Carryall (Golf Cart)....My question: Would this Thermo-Tec be of much use to dampen/deaden the engine sound from my golf cart? I am considering placing some under the bed of the rear of the golf cart, under the front seats, and even possibly the floor board of the golf cart. Would this work good |
Answer: | I also have a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe and it was enough to cover all four doors, the tailgate and a few extra small places...you definitely would need 2-3 boxes to cover everything...But also keep in mind, you only need roughly 25% surface area coverage to be effective. No need to over do it! (2 boxes would probably be enough)You can check out sounddeadenershowdown dot com for a better explanation! |

Question: | I have a new, clean fuel tank that is tight but produces vibration noise at highway speeds, could this be applied to bottom or top of tank |
Answer: | Yes. I put dynamat around a 4K generator in our rv. Sides, top and bottom. Did a great job not only deadening the noise but 2 years later, it’s still stuck on. Very impressed |
Question: | Can it be used as a hoodliner |
Answer: | Worked great, used it on my 1971 RoadRunner |
Question: | Can this work on the inside of a sub box made out of aluminum, mdf is too thick for the space. Would half inch be thick enough? Thanks |
Answer: | Yes, it will adhere to aluminum. It works best if you apply it in warm conditions. Make sure you Stick one edge down and then use a roller to apply the rest so you avoid trapping air bubbles. It will work on gentle curve but for hard corners, cut it and start a new sheet |
Question: | does the thickness matter during the installation, as in can it be too thick I won't be able to put back the headliner |
Answer: | We used this product in our 1957 Chevy and it was not too thick for the headliner. We used the 1/2 inch thickness |

Question: | what is the temperature rating on this? Want to put in the engine room of my boat to deaden engine noise at the helm |
Answer: | Dynaliner is for the inside cabin for under the carpet, behind the door panels, and behind the headliner. It's intention is more of a temperature isolation barrier and some higher frequencies deadening. You would have great results using the Dynamat pressed into the interior body of the engine compartment. I've used that on four cars and a van- you won't be disappointed. *If you get a bulk pack of the Dynamat, get the 1-2 inch wooden application roller too, and apply it in 65-85 degree temps for best results. |
Question: | What color is this? Silver or black |
Answer: | Mine was black |
Question: | I have a JL 10w6 facing the lift gate of my Tahoe behind the 3rd row. Will this help with vehicle rattle and license plate rattle if I cover the door |
Answer: | This product is to be used on top of the Dynamat so if you just use dynaliner. I don't think it will work as well. |
Question: | I have a drone in my car would this help dampen the sound |
Answer: | If the droning is coming from your exhaust, you're better off putting a mid muffler to get rid of the droning. I used it for the under hood to save the new paint job. It does a great job keeping the hood cool. As for noise, I only noticed a little reduction in decibels. Good luck. |

Product description
The Hoodliner is made from .75″ acoustic sound soaker foam with reinforced, reflective aluminized skin. The aluminized skin is cleanable, oil and water resistant and provides 97% heat reflection. The Hoodliner has high-tack pressure sensitive adhesive for easy peel and stick application. The effectiveness of acoustical foam is dependent on its ability to convert sound waves into heat energy. The Hoodliner has combination of open and closed cells to accept sound waves and dissipate them. If all of the foam cells were open, sound waves would simply pass through. Conversely, if all of the foam cells were closed, few sound waves would be absorbed. The Hoodliner’s acoustic foam is cast in sheets, achieving consistent resistivity levels throughout the foam. Thus, maximum sound absorption is assured.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work for high frequency eng/trans noise if applied to the floor boards or firewall and hood |
Answer: | Not sure about high frequency, but it does muffle the engine noise. I have a cab forward vehicle (Jeep FC170) where the engine sits between the seats. |
Question: | For firewall application to reduce noise/heat would you recommend using Hoodliner on top of Dynamat Extreme or just this |
Answer: | I recommend both Dynamat Extreme & this. That's what I did. It has held up now for nearly a year. That said, there was only about a 10-20% reduction of noise from my diesel. Most of that being higher frequencies. That's just the way of diesels though. |
Question: | Hi. can i use this under the hood of my 1979 mgb? thanks |
Answer: | No it only works on 1978 MGB |
Question: | Is this fire retardent |
Answer: | The literature says it is a thermal barrier but I am not sure if it is fire retardant. The aluminum coating does not appear to be flammable. |

Question: | Would painting this product, or putting a thin black cloth over it, negatively affect the sound deadener/dampening properties |
Answer: | I would doubt any measurable effect would be seen. This will likely lay down rough and need a good sanding for anything to stick fyi. |
Question: | Will this be enough to do a 2011 Toyota Camry trunk |
Answer: | Two boxes for your trunk. One box barely did my 07 Mustang GT convertible trunk. |
Question: | Can i use this on a 2018 silverado ext cab |
Answer: | You can use it anywhere. It can be cut to fit where you want it. |
Question: | Does it smell or have a lot of fumes |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is one roll enough for a Jetta |
Answer: | Yes one roll would be fine for just the floor. |
Question: | Does this product have an odor |
Answer: | No, i don't recall any odor at all. |
Question: | Does it require some sort of glue or tape to fix it against the floor |
Answer: | No, I did not need to use any tape, glue, or Velcro. It is firm enough to stay in place until you cover it with the original carpet. |
Question: | From the Dynamat website it looks like you should first use Dynamat and then add Dynapad on top, in addition, for the floors. Have people done that |
Answer: | Yes, based on how much sound deadening you want and how much you want to spend. I used this in multiple cars. The best approach is two layers of Dynamat and then one layer of Dynapad. Since each product works on different frequencies, you need at least one of each for best results |
