10 best high temperature enamel paint
High-temperature enamel paint is a specialized type of paint formulated to withstand extreme heat and maintain its finish and integrity at high temperatures. This type of paint is commonly used in automotive, industrial, and household applications where surfaces can become extremely hot. Here are some key points about high-temperature enamel paint:
High Heat Resistance: High-temperature enamel paint is designed to withstand temperatures well above those of regular paint. It can typically endure temperatures ranging from 500°F (260°C) to 2000°F (1093°C) or even higher, depending on the specific product.
Automotive Applications: One of the primary uses of high-temperature enamel paint is in the automotive industry. It is used to coat various engine components, exhaust systems, brake calipers, and other parts that become extremely hot during operation. This paint helps protect these components from corrosion and provides a clean, durable finish.
Industrial Use: High-temperature enamel paints are also used in industrial settings, especially in applications involving machinery, pipelines, and equipment that are exposed to high temperatures. They can help prevent rust and corrosion on these surfaces while maintaining a professional appearance.
Household Appliances: Some household appliances, such as ovens, grills, and stoves, have surfaces that can get very hot. High-temperature enamel paint is used to coat these surfaces, ensuring they remain resistant to heat, moisture, and stains.
Color Options: High-temperature enamel paint comes in a variety of colors, allowing users to match or customize the appearance of the painted surfaces. This makes it suitable for both functional and decorative purposes.
Durability: This type of paint is known for its durability and ability to withstand not only high temperatures but also environmental factors like humidity and chemicals. It forms a hard, protective coating that is resistant to chipping and peeling.
Application Methods: High-temperature enamel paint can be applied using brushes, rollers, or spray guns, depending on the size and shape of the surface being painted. Proper surface preparation, including cleaning and sanding, is essential for a successful application.
Curing Process: After applying high-temperature enamel paint, it typically requires a curing process. This involves allowing the painted surface to air dry or baking it at a specified temperature for a specific duration to achieve maximum heat resistance.
Safety Considerations: When using high-temperature enamel paint, it's important to follow safety guidelines, including adequate ventilation and the use of personal protective equipment, as some formulations may emit fumes during curing.
In summary, high-temperature enamel paint is a specialized type of paint designed for use in high-heat environments, such as automotive and industrial applications. It provides a protective and aesthetically pleasing finish while withstanding extreme temperatures and environmental conditions.

User questions & answers
Question: | For prepping a fire pit do you apply to the outside only or interior, log grate, etc |
Answer: | I applied to the outside and inside but not the mesh cover or the log grate. |
Question: | can this be used on kitchen appliances? (fridge, stove, dishwasher |
Answer: | I'm sure it can be used on stove because by it's an high heat be tolerance spray |
Question: | Would you use this on a new fire pit to help it last or only once a fire pit starts to deteriorate |
Answer: | You could use it either way. before deterioration might be best, in my opinion. I don't know if that paint layer would peel quicker, though.Good luck! |
Question: | Can this be used on the inside lid of my grill which has become very rusted (after sanding of course |
Answer: | I would NEVER put paint n the inside of a grill. I have been grilling and smoking eat for 35 years. For the outside it's OK but never paint the inside. Get a round wire brush for your drill and brush it clean. Coat the inside of your grill with Canola oil. Oil and season it by cranking up the heat with no food. Let it get to a very high temp for at least 45 minutes to an hour for a proper seasoning. Then you will be ready to cook. Cleaning of the hood is not really required of a smoker or grill. Best of luck. Smoke rolling here today. 6 racks of baby backs, 2 pork buttts and 20 chicken quarters. I love it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use this on a wood burning fireplace firebox |
Answer: | Yes especially if it is an alloy box but if the box is made of wood you might want to seal and prime it with the high temperature primer first and make sure that there are no cracks before you go over it with the rust oleum high temp paint, for best results! |
Question: | Can I use this paint to spray the outside of a wood burning stove |
Answer: | I bought 6 cabs and did my gas grill inside and out. After it cured, I ran it for 30 minutes without food. I have a "holder" to grill fish so I am using that for all cooking so I and not cooking directly on the painted area. If after a month it holds up, I will do test cooking on it directly for the stray cats. |
Question: | Paint scratches off very easily 2 days later, even after curing at 200 and 400 degrees. Prepped with degreaser and 150 grit sandpaper. What could I have done wrong |
Answer: | You did not do anything wrong. This particular paint is not durable at all, but it withstands very very high temps. If you need high heat AND durability, then you need to look into some of the high heat Cerakote and Duracoat products, which are much more involved in applying than this is. I just answered another question on here, and in that answer I mentioned watching YouTube vids of ppl using this paint. In this vids, you'll see they are very delicate w the painted objects after cured when re-installing the object in a car engine compartment, for example. The ONLY thing this paint is good at is withstanding very high heat and being applied relatively easily and cheaply. Ps. I guess I should mention that this product is sometimes sold as an "enamel" but this particular paint is not truly what you'd call an enamel. Enamel implies high durability, and this does not have high durability. |
Question: | What temperatures are required to cure the paint multiple times at various temperatures in an oven? Will the final coating survive any contact with food |
Answer: | 24 hours AFTER painted - place in oven one hour @ 175 degrees. A second curing a few hours later is sometimes helpful.Any contact with food in either direction is bad. (part to food / food to part)Make sure wife is out of town.Cook 2 or 3 pizzas one after another to help disguise smell. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can I use it to paint my kitchen stove or what product would you recommend |
Answer: | that's why i purchased it, no other product lasted on my electric stove top. this product has not discolored since i put it on about 3 months ago. all other stove top paints did not work,, glad to help |
Question: | Could i spray this directly on the grill burners (not the holes of course) and the brackets that hold the burners to the fire box |
Answer: | My guess would be no, it's for high heat but probably not that high. I just spray the outside and legs after winter. It does a great job of covering the rust on my cheapo Walmart BBQ. Makes it look brand new every spring, this is my third season using it. |
Question: | Do you think I could spray my oven racks with this? Would it scratch off at the bottom |
Answer: | I used this for the exterior of my BBQ grill not the metal racks but the enclosure/ exterior body. I personally would not spray this on my oven racks for safety reasons. |
Question: | no lead |
Answer: | Here is a list of the contents; lead is not one of them: Acetone, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Xylene, Ethylbenzene, Iron Manganese Oxide, Magnesium Silicate, Copper Chromite Black, Solvent Naptha, Light Aromatic, 1,2,4 Trimethylbenzene, and Carbon Black |

Question: | I want to paint the upper air intake plenum on a G35. Can I use this product with the primer for that |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | I want to paint my exhaust tips on a 2010 Porsche 911. Is the paint durable enough to be exposed to the elements |
Answer: | Yrs |
Question: | is the texture really coarse or can it be made into the texture you want |
Answer: | Well i use this Paint to yellow my fog light, i not sure if will anodzed as gold!! I Do no that it is very metalic yellow and is real good paint.good luck. |
Question: | Do you need a primer |
Answer: | Not sure what the manufacturer will recommend, but my preference is to topcoat over it as soon as their recommended "dry time" is up. Virtually any primer will take on moisture and the longer it is exposed, the great risk of moisture bleeding through to the topcoat. |
Question: | how warm does it have to be to put it on |
Answer: | Unknown... never tried it but its worth a shot if you really need it. |
Question: | how much surface does 1 can of this duplicolor bedliner spray cover |
Answer: | Sorry, can't answer that. But I'm wondering WHO is stating it works great on Aluminum? I'm purchasing a ceramic finish engine paint. Yes, I clean such things to the best of my ability. I don't spare expense. Using brake clean/carb cleaner/Slacker thinner. In this case dirty aluminum valve covers. Thinking start with slacker thinner. So, with that in mind. If I can't find a good high temp. 500 degree primer, I'm thinking just use the ceramic formula on a clean sanded surface. Thanks |

Answer: | I used it on a type r valve cover got a good amount of coverage and still have some left it covers really nice you don't have to keep putting coat after coat |
Question: | Can this product be used on an electric range? I have intentions of painting our stove but the products for that don't come in high gloss as this does |

User questions & answers
Question: | can u spray it |
Answer: | Yes, you can. I used seven parts of paint to one part mineral spirits. 30 psi at the spray gun. Wonderful results and much less expensive than spray cans. |
Question: | Is this a paint that can be easily removed from brushes with soap and water |
Answer: | You don't specify what type of Rust-Oleum paint you have. I find most rust-oleum paints are of an oil base and thus would require a mineral base thinner to clean brushes. |
Question: | can this be used on a stove hood |
Answer: | Yes. It is a good choice for stove hoods. It has a temp range up to 1200 degrees. If you get our stove hood that hot, you deserve to burn your house down and write a book how you did it. |
Question: | I will be painting a bbq smoker. how would you recommend to prep the surface before applying the paint |
Answer: | I would at least knock off the rust then wipe it down with thinner, mineral spirits or other solvent. The cleaner you get the metal, the better the paint will bond. I put it on my BBQ grill, I didn't put a lot of effort into prep and cleaning, just knocked off the loose rust and paint, it still looks pretty good. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you need to apply primer before using this, and if so which kind |
Answer: | No primer is needed, but the surface should be clean and free of the usual dirt, rust, oil, etc. A sand-blasted surface is ideal, but not really needed. DO keep in mind that brake fluid will destroy this paint just any like other paint, so expect some peeling around the bleeder. I wrap teflon tape around the threaded portion ONLY of the bleeder screws to reduce leaks of both air and fluid here. |
Question: | Anyone have experience using this on aluminum rear dif cover |
Answer: | we used it for brake calipers, my mechanic said something about spraying like plastic and some engine parts, I would say clean the aluminum real well and give it a shot it handles heat and sprays on metal, don't know if calipers are aluminum but might be |
Question: | Can I use this to spray the back of a brake pad |
Answer: | You can use any paint to paint the back of a brake pad...BUT...do not do it. Question answered. C'MON |
Question: | Do you need to heat cure this paint |
Answer: | No. Just make sure the surface to be painted is clean. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work on gym equipment? Looking to paint my squat rack neon green. Thx |
Answer: | yes |
Question: | Has anyone had luck with the VHT clear coat enamel? Does it last and resist chemicals |
Answer: | Hey Josh, Pretty much like any other Clear Coat. It does work. Should re spray a couple of coats. It will last for awhile, depending how it's used!! Hope this helps! {wolfman} |
Question: | can i use this on my brake calipers |
Answer: | Yes. I've used it on my brake calipers and it works great. Depending on how much you drive you may have to touch it up to keep it bright every so often but that's going to happen regardless of what paint you use because brake dust, etc. I use this because its high temperature. |
Question: | Is it OK to use a gray primer and then use a hot pink paint over top of the gray |
Answer: | Primer of any kind will be good for a nice finish for whatever you are painting. I recommend 3 light coats of primer lightly sanded in between. When getting ready to apply you engine paint, beware, this is thick paint. It has heavy particulate matter which is the paint. I recommend that you turn the paint can upside down for 3 to 4 hours. This paint settles heavily. After several hours upside down, shake violently to get it mixed well. After that don't spray too close to your target surface. Do not spray at any temp less than 72 degrees fahrenheit, and spray evenly side to side about 5 to 6 inches, from surface. |
