It's tires that have not been running on the road that day and when checked tin the shade (because the sun will add psi) at 70 degrees air temp. For every 10 degrees higher or lower than 70 add or subtract 1 psi. So if my car calls for 32 psi and I'm checking at 50 degrees outside air temp then I'd put them at 30 psi. After running a car on the highway (especially in the summertime) they will read quite a bit higher than cool down the longer the car sits.

Answer:	Maybe. It will depend on if your RV battery is the right voltage. For example, mine are 6v whereas I believe the Viair requires 12v. Since I returned my Viair I do not have the instructions anymore.

Question:	What's the difference, besides price, between the 400P and 400PA
Answer:	I've had mine for a few years now so I'm not sure but I can say a few things about it. First it is the best portable compressor you can buy. It will fill a 22 inch rv tire in under 5 minutes and reach every tire on a 42 foot dp easily. I believe at the time I bought mine the difference between the PA and the P was a better pump motor and more accessories. The PA came with the truck tire adapter so you can read and fill inner duals tires, an extra air line for a total of 60 feet, and a large analog gauge to easily read tire pressure. I would highly recommend it. I've had mine for a few years and it still looks and works like it was new. Hope this helps you.

I was amazed because all documents were in English and well written with clear and precise wording and clear picture diagrams of all parts. This is very unusual! The booklet was written in letters you did not have to magnify to read. I needed a portable air supply for off road driving where I can deflate my tires and then re-inflate the tires. I had a picture of the box but they gave me no way to attach the photo, sorry!

Answer:	The user manual says do not run it continuously over 10 minutes. I tested it already, it only takes a few minutes to fill up to 32 psi a tire. If you want to pump all tires, you can turn it on and off multi times. It doesn't take long to cool down and do another tire

Answer:	Mine came with a spare fuse and I needed it. The fuse that was in the device blew within 2 seconds of the first time I tried it.

Viair 400P-Automatic Function Portable Compressor offers automatic function. The unit contains an onboard pressure switch that allows the unit to run until an internal pressure of 145 PSI is achieved at which point, the compressor will shut off. To start the compressor, attach to a tire valve stem and squeeze the trigger on the supplied gas station style inflation gun. Once air flows out of the unit, the compressor will restart. It can inflate up to a 35-inch tire from 0 to 30 PSI in less than 5 minutes. Air pressure can be monitored by releasing the trigger on the inflation gun, which will show current tire pressure.

Question:	My compressor turns on but doesn’t generate any pressure after connecting the hose. Any suggestions
Answer:	If it makes a rattling sound then the piston and cylinder wall went bad. You can see the piston and cylinder wall when you will open this compressor. There may be something else wrong but if compressor is not building any pressure than most likely piston and cylinder wall are scratched up.

Question:	Can this unit be used with a normal electric outlet or do I need to buy an ac/dc convertor when I want to use it in the garage without a battery
Answer:	This unit is strictly a 12 volt DC powered compressor. If you wish to use this on house current, you will need to use a 12 volt DC power supply which could handle the required amperage. I would suggest a small car or lawn mower battery of at least 100 ampere capacity. Put a trickle charger on it and you would good to go. Most of these battery powered compressors will draw considerable current during operation and they will get hot so be sure to take care when operating and keep the compressor clear of any combustible items.
Question:	Must you continuously hold the lever on the inflation gun to inflate a tire? Seems like that would be very tiresome to do anything but add a few lbs
Answer:	It doesn’t take that long to fill em. I’d rather hold the chuck in one hand and and a beer in the other than get distracted and forget it. The original filler clip fell off the stem a lot and made it a 2 hand job so I got another one at Home Depot for 20 bucks. I carry regular chucks and lots of other spare parts like valve stems and covers. When I air down I pull the stems right out. When I’m filling I have a small fold up stool to sit on (or my cooler)and a digital gauge. I always have extra valve covers too. Most of the stuff Fits in a pill bottle. I carry an extra 25’ hose in case. Happy trails.
