User questions & answers

Question: Auto shop said a trans flush could damage my trans in my 160k 2008 ford escape. should i take .75 fluid quart out of it and add this
Answer: Yes drain and fill. Drain what you can, refill with this and the remainder with the appropriate transmission fluid for your vehicle. Flushes put unnecessary pressure on your aging seals in your transmission.
Question: Is lucas trans fix compatible with a borg warner velvet drive boat transmission with dextrose i trans fluid
Answer: If it's leaking, yes. Treat only 10% of capacity. Thank you for your interest. FamilyGoKarts 320-695-2899
Question: Do I really have to drain some fluid before adding? Bottle says no need please help me
Answer: If your dipstick reads that you have enough trans-oil , but you see that the oil is dark and smells burned. It is better to drain enough trans-oil to add the complete bottle of Lucas 10009 (24 oz.) . If it just overfills a little , you do not have to drain anything .

Question: Does this include a nozzle for getting the gear oil into the input port
Answer: No, it doesnt come with a pour nozzle. This was just a jug-o-oil.
Question: will this work in a 2010 silverado with limited slip or do ya need the limited slip additive
Answer: Lucas gear oil and other synthetic gear oil's due not require an additional additive. I run Lucas gear oil in the gear box and non-slip rear end of my 2012 Mustang GT without any additional additives. The stuff works!
Question: Is this g4 or g5 gear oil i need g4 for older transmission
Answer: The year really does not matter except to look up what type of oil is needed, if it calls for ATF, then gear oil will not work, if it calls for 90W gear oil, then the 75-90W will work, some times in hot or extreme you will need 140W, look in your glove box manual for type needed or look online, I run this lucas in my motorcycle final drive and transmission, hope this helps...or call Orileys and ask

User questions & answers

Question: What part of this is the proposition 65 cancer warning referring to
Answer: Cancer and reproductive harm.
Question: Can this pump handle corrosive chemicals
Answer: It depends on the chemical. It is recommended for use with gear oils, transmission fluids and differential fluids. Beyond that, there are no guarantees that the pump will last very long. However, some customers have said that they use it to remove gasoline from lawnmowers. The pump is NOT recommended for transferring BRAKE FLUID.
Question: Can i use this to pull atf from pan using dipstick tube
Answer: You should be able to draw fluid from any reservoir of liquid. However, I not sure the rigid suction tube that extends from the bottom of the pump is long enough to reach the pan. There are other extractor pumps for sale on amazon that are designed and more suitable for the application that you are referring to. Try searching 'oil extractor pump', and you should get plenty of options. Unfortunately, you're going to have to pay a lot more than $9.59 for one of those pumps.
Question: Can someone please tell me the outside diameter of the plastic tubing
Answer: Outside diameter 12.5 mm or about 1/2" Inside diameter 10.5 mm or about 3/8"

User questions & answers

Question: I know it does not have the ford spec for the fiesta st's ib6 transaxle, but would this fluid harm it
Answer: I would think it is ok but call the dealer to ask them since it is a ford fluid they would be the best source for this information.
Question: Will this work for a 98 Ford F150 Manual transmission
Answer: I have used it in manual transmission for several years. Before changing to synthetic fluid, be sure you have good seals. Worn seals will leak, just as if you change and engine from regular oil with worn seals to synthetic motor oil. I have been happy with using it.
Question: NC MX5/6M/Limited slip diff. Can I use for the diff and Tranny? 3 qt. would be perfect (2.2qt+0.7qt). Or you guys rec another fluid for the diff
Answer: I'm no expert, But I'm sure the torque and velocity conditions for the transmission synchro "clutches" are far different than your Limited slip which has much higher & variable torque with lower velocity requirements, not to mention any wheel hop demands on the Limited slip. It was hard enough to finally find a Tranny oil that made that MX5/6M shift perfect (you'll notice it in your first shift, but give it 1000 miles and you'll love it). Check your manual, my 2001 MX5/6M was happy with just 2 qts, with about 1/2 cut left over. Bottom line, I would not try it in a Limited slip, either buy the oil from Mazda or find out the oil specifications and accept nothing less. I can't say for sure since I do not have limited slip and use Mobile 1 syn transmission oil. Best of luck, hope this helps. Geno
Question: Is 2 quarts enough for my 07 miata? Manual says 2.2L but this stuff is expensive
Answer: Do not listen to the person who is telling you to use automatic transmission fluid. They obviously didn't read the question. Yes, this is the stuff for a NC Miata with a manual transmission (might be for others too but I only know the NC1). Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it stinks that you need 2.2 quarts but you can't scrimp and buy just 2. Buy the three pack. You'll also need a pump to transfer from the bottle to trans. Make sure that your car is level when filling. Fill until it starts to weep back out of the fill hole.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work for a 05 Jeep Liberty 2.8l diesel
Answer: I'm not sure. I think if you can find the label online or somewhere it says on the back what it will work in, I think it should work for any automatic transmission, but you can always call the Lucas Oil company as well. I called them with a question about it. Can call Jeep company as well or ask mechanics' opinion.
Question: I have a 2006 Honda CRV - can I still use this? I know Honda Honda says to ONLY use Honda fluids.. But can I add this to it
Answer: I have many years of experience working on Honda's. I currently own a Civic SI, Prelude 5spd, and a 2005 4WD CR-V (identical to the 2006 model). The ATF-Z1 fluid used in the CR-V's transmission is a synthetic that has a "clinging property" for smooth shifting, even in cold weather. If your tranny is acting up, I recommend that you bring it in for service. Good Luck!
Question: he can use on any transmission fluid
Answer: No use only factory request
Question: Do you have to flush the transmission to use this,or can l just add this to existing transmission fluid, thanks for the feedback
Answer: After 50,000 miles you should change your transmission fluid (and filter unless it's a screen type) if it's still bright red. But If it's very dark red or even worse black then flush the transmission it's money well spent to save your transmission. Keep in mind it will look like red metallic paint that's just part of normal wear. If it's bright red then just drain some transmission fluid to keep it at the proper level. Overfilling an automatic transmission by just a few ounces can cause it to leak. Best of luck to you.

Lubegard 60902 Automatic Transmission Fluid Protectant, 10 oz.

Lubegard

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price

Product description

LUBEGARD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) PROTECTANT is for use in all automatic transmissions and manuals requiring an ATF, including heavy duty transmissions, such as Allison. Use with all synthetic or mineral based DEXRON, MERCON & OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) ATF’s (except Ford Type F ATF & CVT applications). Lubegard controls heat and is especially effective in today’s hotter running front wheel drive vehicles. It contains LXE (Liquid Wax Ester) Technology and their derivatives, base oils and conventional additives. Lubegard is designed to raise the thermal and oxidative stability level of automatic transmission fluids, so when it operates at elevated temperatures, it does not thin out and pyrolize, burn or react with oxygen and form deposits. The use of LUBEGARD ATF Protectant will not cause clutch friction upset or slippage. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: For normal applications, add 1 oz. (29.6 mL) per quart (Liter) of ATF to the total transmission capacity (including torque converter) with motor idling in park. Do not overfill.

  • Prevents overheating, reducing elevated operating temperatures up to 40 degrees Farenheit - Optimizes total transmission performance
  • Eliminates transmission fluid foaming and oxidation and reduces wear throughout the transmission
  • Eliminates clutch chatter and torque converter shudder; Softens and modifies harsh shifts making them quicker in duration
  • Extends fluid life / Raises the thermal and oxidative stability of the fluid
  • Only protectant that increases the fluid’s ability to transfer heat / Protects new seals and permanently restores older seals to a like-new condition, without adverse side effects

User questions & answers

Question: Is this ok for a 1995 f-150 5.8 engine with a E 40D transmission
Answer: Probably. '95 units are usually good with this type of additive. However, I always check with my transmission builder before using any product.
Question: Which lubegard to use? red, black, universal....etc this is for 2007 toyota corolla lock-up solenoid issue
Answer: It is compatible, will it help ? Its worth a try. I would do a couple of poor mans flushes first, drain the pan & refill with fresh fluid, drive 200-500 miles & repeat until the fluid comes out looking nice & red, then refill & use the lubeguard, good luck!
Question: I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty 2.8 CRD which uses ATF+4 in its RFE545 transmission. Can I use this in my transmission
Answer: I would ask a local transmission shop. I have used this in my Contour, CRV and Civic. It seems that a lot of transmission shops use this on rebuilts to avoid failures under warranty. I didn't over think it with my Honda vehicles since such a small amount is added to the transmission. I would not only check with some transmission shops, I would also check some of the blogs that are relative to your vehicle.
Question: work on transmission dsg Jetta mk5 Gli
Answer: change the valve body.

No. 1 Used By Professional Transmission Rebuilders!

Used, endorsed, designated, and recommended by multiple OEM’s to protect transmissions and reduce warranty claims!

LUBEGARD Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Protectant is a concentrated additive package infused with superior seal friendly conditioners and friction modifiers. This unique product restores additive content of an old ATF and also enhances a new ATF resulting in improved performance and smoother more consistent shifting. It can safely be added to any automatic transmission fluid (ATF) including full synthetic, semi synthetic, conventional and low viscosity fluids except Ford Type F or CVT.

LUBEGARD ATF Protectant is engineered to raise the thermal and oxidative stability level of automatic transmission fluids, so when it operates at elevated temperatures, it does not thin out and pyrolize, burn or react with oxygen and form deposits. It is formulated with proprietary Liquid Wax Esters (LXE) that are unique because of their natural lubricity, high viscosity index, and high flash points. They have the ability to withstand repeated heating to temperatures as high as 570°F. LXE gives automatic transmission fluid the extra lubricity needed for transmission’s unique frictional equirements. They improve heat conductivity, suppress foaming and, consequently, and reduce transmission operating temperatures.

Lucas Oil 10146 Synthetic 50WT Transmission Lubricant - 1 Gallon

Lucas Oil

Based on 45 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Lucas Synthetic 50 WT Transmission Oil is designed especially for heavy duty truck transmissions but can be used in many other applications. Common gear oils are mostly base stocks with little more than an addition of sulphur and phosphorus as a total anti-wear package. Lucas Oil Products consider this inadequate. Most heavy duty truck transmission manufacturers now consider sulphur and phosphorus to be potentially corrosive to copper and brass and consequently recommend against common gear oils for this reason. The other 50 WT tested, synthetic or otherwise, are pure base stock, which is also considered inadequate. Lucas Synthetic 50 WT contains an exclusive additive concentrate derived from synthetic oil that ensures lower operating temperatures and better lubrication, especially to upper bearings and gears. This is a long lasting fluid that is far superior to conventional synthetic fluids and contains nothing that could be harmful. Meets or exceeds API MT-1, Eaton Transmission Div., 164 rev 7, Mack Truck TO-A Plus, International Truck TMS 6816 and other applications requiring non-EP Lubricants.

  • Designed for heavy duty truck transmissions
  • Lower operating temperatures
  • Better lubrication
  • Long lasting

User questions & answers

Question: Hello men. i notice a small leak under the transmission fluid pan. should i add this stuff to my transmission fluid? thank you gents
Answer: Hello, In my case a 1994 Ford pickup I had no choice but to try the Barrs stop leak. It really didn't pay to replace the transmission. I have used Barrs before on other leaks and it always worked. This time I used another stop leak other than Barrs and the leak got worse. I tried the Barrs later on and the leak didn't stop. I called a few transmission shops and they all said I ruined the transmission by adding stop leak and the whole transmission must be rebuilt instead of just the seals replaced. I hope this helps you make a decision.
Question: Where do i pour this on a 2005 chrysler town and country
Answer: On this and many other new vehicles, the only way to put it in is into the fluid dipstick with a funnel.
Question: Work for chrysler cars
Answer: Any car or truck
Question: Swapped a transmission in a nissan sentra, small crack from transmission lift happened, is it possible this may seal it? Unable to weld without takin
Answer: Possible, worth a try. You might get lucky.
