Answer:	it does measure 40" in length not stretched out. I was able to put it under my foot and stretch it out to about 84" easily. I am 6' tall and weigh 220 lbs. shoulder surgery and elbow issues make doing pull ups an issue. I got this band to use as a pull up assist. I does not work so well for my body type for that but my wife is about 5' 5" and weighs 105 lbs and she uses it for pull ups without issue. I am going to order the black band for my use.
