The General Tools 8501 Glass Cutter is perfect for precisely and smoothly cutting plate glass 1/8” to ¼” thick. This heavy-duty tool has a steel wheel with a honed angle of 120 degree for cutting single or double strength glass. Ergonomic designed tapered handle boasts a flat surface near cutting wheel for a comfortable finger position, providing the best leverage. The handle also includes a weighted ball that provides elevation to snap off scored glass.

Instructions

• Coat cutting wheel with oil prior to scoring glass

• Measure glass and score glass surface with an even firm pressure

• Place ball of handle, or small dowel, under scored glass to elevate and press evenly on both sides of glass

Question:	wil this cut through acrylic
Answer:	It doesn’t specifically cut “through” it scores the glass which you then carefully break. It might do the same with acrylic but not sure since acrylic flexes more than glass.
Question:	Will this work on a thin sheet of fiber glass
Answer:	No. The physics of glass cutting is fundamentally different from other materials cutting and this cutter works only based on that physics principle. Fiberglass isn't cut based on that principle and should be treated more like wood or metal when cutting. Your best bet is a saw with a higher TPH (teeth per inch) blade typically used for finer plywood or metal cuts. Just plain scissor may be an option if the material is paper thin. But this device won't cut it.

Do not forget to use medium pressure when scoring the bottle, this will help you get those perfect cuts. The easiest method to split the bottle is dipping the bottle in boiling water and ice cold water because it will guarantee the hot water gets into the score, and when you dip in cold water and it will just separate by itself. Question:	How do I open it to replace batteries
Answer:	I struggled with that for a while too, but finally got it. On the bottom end beneath the blade area, there is a small black cap that unscrews enough so you can pop the cap off. That is where you fill it with batteries. The battery shaped indentation on the side of the tool shows you the direction the batteries go. Hope this helps.
