This strip feeds through the top of the rim, under the velcro. It is useful in keeping the shape of the trash can, and making it sturdy. First you remove the plastic lining inside the can. Then, open the velcro tab at the inner right rim. Unfold the plastic rim strip and feed it through the rim of the can. Close the velcro tab, and then you can put the trash can liner back in the can. Answer:	Hello, Thank you for your question. When you open your car trash can, there are a few things to do before it is ready to install. First you remove the plastic lining inside the can. Then, open the velcro tab at the inner right rim. Unfold the plastic rim strip and feed it through the rim of the can. Close the velcro tab, and then you can put the trash can liner back in the can. It will secure to the velcro at the rim, and your trash can is ready to install. To install the trash can, simply clip the top strap around the area of the car you have chosen for placement. Then tighten the strap to adjust the placement. For more stability, use the velcro stickers on the back of the can to attach to the seat or console. Answer:	Yes, both are plastic. They’re compost bins with lids that stow food scrapers. The lids are spring loaded and slide forward and down, taking up less space then lifting up. I returned them because they were too small for my needs, but great for compost or bathroom trash can.
