Here's the dimensions anyway:2.150 inches inner diameter.2.180 inches from front to cross shank.1.410 inches thick.The locking pin diameter is 0.625 inches.If it didn't work for other people they were either not installing it correctly, which honestly is pretty damn hard, or were trying to use it in a manner it isn't designed for.

Answer:	Hi Jeanette.. we would have to say, Yes. Why? Because the lock goes onto the king pin itself & not onto the plate. You remove the lock when you are going to hook your 5th wheel up to your hitch & only install the lock pin whenever you've got it Unhooked from your truck 5th wheel Hitch. If this doesn't answer your question, I would contact the Seller directly to clarify and/or I would copy & paste the name of the item into Google search box & read about it's use via other 5th Wheeler users, maybe they have some more information for you. We use our whenever we are unhooked. Even when it is behind 2 locked gates at home. We have been told by other campers that it is not uncommon, (doesn't happen all the time), that someone has backed up to a 5th wheel or trailer & hooked up someone Else's trailer or 5th wheel & drove off with it. This king pin is a good investment. I personally like the canary yellow one.
