Answer:	Hello,this is not a self locking winch,It has a ratchet, and you need to manually adjust the ratchet when you need it to lock, so that it stops. Brake winch will the product will be on the shelves recently, and you can buy it later if you need.

Answer:	It is a 3200lb strap when in good condition. I believe it has to be wrapped at least once around the drum (in manual, not handy right now) for the whole system to take 3200lb. If the strap gets old and breaks it takes the gears in the winch with...or it least it did on my old cheaper Fulton winch that I replaced with this one.

Answer:	In my opinion I would NEVER BUY this winch again. After three times of use (pulling a 3500# boat on as trailer) it broke. I took it apart and the teeth on the gears broke off!! CHEAP steel. I bought another brand.
