14 best leather boot waterproofer
Leather boot waterproofer is a product used to protect leather boots and other leather items from moisture, water, and stains. It is commonly used in leather care, including for footwear, to extend the life of leather products and maintain their appearance. Here's what you need to know about leather boot waterproofers:
Purpose: The primary purpose of a leather boot waterproofer is to create a protective barrier on the surface of the leather. This barrier repels water, preventing it from soaking into the leather and causing damage.
Waterproofing: Leather is a porous material, which means it can absorb water and become damaged over time. Leather boot waterproofers typically contain ingredients such as silicone, wax, or polymers that form a waterproof layer when applied to the leather. This layer helps keep water out and prevents the leather from becoming saturated.
Stain Resistance: In addition to water protection, leather boot waterproofers often provide some level of stain resistance. This can help prevent stains from oil, dirt, and other substances from setting into the leather.
Application: Leather waterproofing products are usually available in various forms, including sprays, creams, waxes, and liquids. The method of application may vary depending on the product, but generally, you will clean the leather first and then apply the waterproofing product evenly over the surface. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the best results.
Compatibility: It's essential to choose a leather boot waterproofer that is compatible with the type of leather you are treating. Different leather types (e.g., full-grain, suede, nubuck) may require different products or application methods.
Maintenance: While leather waterproofers provide protection, they are not permanent solutions.Reapplication is typically necessary over time, especially if the boots are exposed to heavy rain or frequent use. Follow the recommended maintenance schedule provided by the manufacturer.
Breathability: Some leather waterproofers are designed to maintain the breathability of the leather. This is particularly important for footwear, as it allows moisture from your feet to escape while still keeping water out.
UV Protection: Some leather waterproofers also offer UV protection, which can help prevent leather from fading and drying out due to sun exposure.
Color Enhancement: Certain leather boot waterproofers may enhance the color and shine of the leather, giving it a polished appearance.
Safety: When using leather boot waterproofers, it's essential to do so in a well-ventilated area and follow safety precautions, such as avoiding contact with your skin and eyes. Keep these products out of reach of children and pets.
In summary, leather boot waterproofers are essential products for maintaining the quality and longevity of leather boots and other leather items. They provide protection against water, stains, and sometimes UV damage, helping to keep your leather products looking good and functioning well. Proper application and maintenance are crucial to ensure the best results.

Question: | The posting implies a 1 count, but also states a 12 count. What quantity is delivered |

Question: | About how many uses come from one 6oz container? I plan on using this product for leather boots, belts, and gun holsters |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this product be used on a leather stearing wheel to maybe hide that sticky feel |
Answer: | It should work on leather to stop it from absorbing water. |
Question: | will this make a boot or shoe water proof |
Answer: | Yes, it will. |
Question: | Can you spray the inside the shoes |
Answer: | Thanks for asking! We would recommend to spray the entire surface from 7 - 10 inches away with a light, even coat |
Question: | How much will the color be affected if used on white sneakers |
Answer: | I applied 2 coats & let dry completely between coats...outdoors (about 8-12 hrs between each coat, during 75+/dry weather & avoided inhaling fumes)...to a pair of relatively expensive, white, 'high top' sneakers & while slight...2 BFFs said they could barely notice the color change 'close up' when completely dry, & not at all when I was wearing them...it still bothered me. So, I put ONE 'SCANT' coat of white WAX, KIWI shoe polish over this 'waterproofing' & that worked great, making them as white as B4...Even 3 years later, I can't believe how good they still look. Living in SE Pennsylvania, I have worn them thru MANY DOWNPOURS/snowstorms/while cleaning snow off my car...even when I've, unintentionally, stepped in water puddles...stm…also at several sporting events, concerts etc. & my feet stay dry as can be! BTW, I haven't reapplied the Kiwi Waterproofing since I first got them, but I have reapplied the white shoe polish, after using a diluted REGULAR Dawn/warm water solution & a soft, microfiber cloth to gently clean & allowing them to dry completely...to keep them looking good, for as long as possible...& only notice 'dirt' & VERY SMALL amount of the white polish on the cloth, that easily washes off the cloth, so that tells me I'm not 'washing off/effecting' the original coats of waterproofing...A lot is still left in the can, but since it is 3+ yrs old, just getting a new can, for when I find a new pair of boots I'm looking for & sharing with Friends...MUCH cheaper for same amount, here @ AMAZON than I paid at a shoe store (price sticker still on it) & saw your question/concern. Hoping this helps...HAPPY THANKSGIVING/HOLIDAY SEASON!! |

Our all-purpose Beeswax and Lanolin waterproofing treatment is the best way to waterproof your leather. This heavy-duty sealing wax goes on thick and provides a long-lasting protective seal. (Exceptionally good at sealing seams on hiking boots!) Why do we use Beeswax and Lanolin? Beeswax is one of nature’s most useful products. Otter Wax Boot Wax features Long-Lasting Protection, Easy Application, All-Natural Ingredients (No Silicone, No Petroleum), Non-Toxic Formula (Apply Anywhere, Anytime : No Obnoxious Odors or Dangerous Chemicals), Versatility (Use on Leather Shoes, Hats, Jackets, Bags, Outdoor Furniture, Auto Interiors, & Much More).

User questions & answers
Question: | does this good for nubuck |
Answer: | This is thick & on the waxy side, not oily |
Question: | Can this be used on Nubuck |
Answer: | W/shoes — yes |
Question: | i have bright leather shoes(desert colour). will it darken it |
Answer: | Absolutely! Our product is designed to mimic the effects of mink oil, but using only cruelty-free ingredients. The key to mink oil is the high content of oleic acid. We use ingredients that have a higher concentration of oleic acid, but are naturally-based. |
Question: | Would this work on suede boots |
Answer: | Absolutely, but expect some darkening to occur (but this will fade to a lighter color as the leather de-hydrates). The patina that you'll get over time will be fantastic, and our Salve will help keep your leather hydrated and supple with regular application. Don't forget, leather is just skin but without the body to continually rehydrate, so keeping it hydrated once or twice a year will help to ensure that your item can last for many years to come. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have any kind of odor |
Answer: | Not particularly; real mink oil has a strong odor, but this isn't real mink oil - it's mostly TALLOW instead. |
Question: | My car's leather seats are constantly exposed to dry and hot conditions. Would mink oil be appropriate to use on them |
Answer: | If they aren't suede, then mink oil would be fine to use on them. That precludes this product, though, since it isn't real mink oil - it's tallow. |
Question: | what is the Genus, species and country of origin of the mink |
Answer: | The species is bovine (as in Bessy the Hereford); this product is TALLOW with only a small portion of mink oil added to justify the word "mink" on the label. |
Question: | Is this squozen from fresh live minks |
Answer: | No. Live minks don't work well in treating your dead cow products. I recommend enjoying fried mink nuggets with your steak. |

Product description
Sno-Seal Original Beeswax Waterproofing protects leather from rain, sun, snow, and salt. Sno-Seal is also great for waxed cotton and tent seams. The beeswax formula dries to a solid wax that "stays put" in the surface of the leather so it lasts longer. Our competitors' greases, oil, and animal products are able to migrate through the leather till they clog all the pores. These waterproofing products fill the natural spaces that are supposed to absorb perspiration and insulate. In addition, animal fats weaken and rot leather. The tannery worked hard to remove the fats and preserve the leather, so it's hard to imagine why you'd put it back on. Sno-Seal will help you feel more comfortable in Gore-Tex fabric lined boots because it allows the Gore-Tex absorbed perspiration to escape out of the leather. Not only will Sno-Seal keep you warm and dry, it will also help you from getting tired. A typical leather boot can soak up to a pound of water. That means you lift an additional 2,212 lbs. to walk one mile. Sno-Seal keeps the whole boot dry, warm and light.
- Leather
- Made in the USA
- Made from Bee's Wax, not Grease, Oil or some other Animal Product.
- Dries to a Solid Wax that Stays Put on the Surface so it Lasts Longer.
- Lubricates and Conditions Leather Without Softening
- Maintains Flexibility in Freezing Temperatures
- Does Not Interfere with the Natural Breathability of Leather

Question: | Is it ok to apply over stitching? Will it affect in a negative way, the rubber sole of the boot if contacted? Does it come with an applicator |
Answer: | YES! IT does waterproof! You can go two ways to waterproof boots. Wax or grease. Huberds is the best grease and https://www.amazon.com/Atsko-Sno-Seal-Original-Beeswax-Waterproofing/dp/B00CQJDV40/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1534768188&sr=8-1&keywords=%2FAtsko-Sno-Seal-Original&th=1 Is the best wax. User questions & answers
Question: | how's this stuff for fine dress shoes |
Answer: | Black or very dark brown dress shoes that you choose to wear in the rain. Otherwise find a good leather conditioner that is known to not darken leather. There are more than one on the market that are not supposed to. I have some very light leather and Bick 4 has not darkened them. Let's also has a product that is not supposed to darken too. Always test an in conspicuous area, especially if you own a fine dress shoe. Many years ago I learned the hard way |
Question: | Has anyone used this on leather auto seats? I used it on my boots and loved it, but I do not want to change the color of my MIata seats |

The Only Natural Industrial Strength Leather Protection
Heavy Duty LP provides a natural barrier against destructive substances and reinforces leather fibers against scuffing. Due to the Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula, a little goes a long way. It waterproofs naturally, while still allowing the leather to breathe. With regular application, people are getting years of wear out of their leather boots!
Leather Care, Conditioning, and Reproofing
Not just for boots, Obenauf’s leather preservative (lp), is widely used to condition leather saddle bags, chaps, tack, holsters, sheathes, baseball gloves, as well as motorcycle and auto leather. More than a leather conditioner, use Heavy Duty LP as a wax waterproofing. Apply with a low heat blow dryer to reproof your cotton oilskin dusters and hats. The natural ingredients of LP can also be applied to protect unfinished, natural wood furniture.
Originally Developed for Firefighters 30 Years Ago
An Idaho Wildland Firefighter developed this unique Beeswax/Propolis Suspension Formula to protect leather against caustic fire retardant chemicals, ash, heat, water, and abrasion. Natural oils are gradually released into the fibers as a long-term lubrication. Heat or continued flexing causes oils to be released faster. Leather gets oiled when and where it needs it most; while on the job!
Recommended Application
At room temperature, apply by hand as body temperature helps melt LP into leather. Two applications last longer in wet conditions. For absorption, allow ten minutes or up to one hour between treatments. On smooth leather, buff off excess with a clean cloth. On nubuck, use a soft bristled brush. One ounce should provide one application to a pair of tall boots. Apply every 6 to 8 weeks or as needed.
- EFFECTIVELY CLEANS: restores, preserves, and waterproofs most leather products.
- CREATES NATURAL SEAL: repels water and barnyard acid while allowing leather to breathe.
- NON-TOXIC LEATHER CARE for boots, shoes, furniture, leather car seats, saddles, purses, tack, and accessories
- APPLY WITH A SOFT CLOTH TO RESTORE BOOTS: no dilution or mixing required to restore leather!
- BOOT CARE THAT’S FAST AND SIMPLE: a five minute application will protect boots and feed leather!
User questions & answers
Question: | will this restore the faded color of a dark brown real leather sofa like a color restorer DYE |
Answer: | You should order the size 12 and trim if necessary. |
Question: | Should I use a leather cleaner first |
Answer: | The first set I bought were wide and I had to trim them to size, the second set were fit correctly. |
Question: | How does this compare to tried and true mink oil |
Answer: | Yes they should fit your boots, as long as they are of square toe design |
Question: | How many boots will one jar actually work on? What does "5 ounces" mean in practical use |
Answer: | Years ago I tried the green model and found that the support was inadequate. The Superfeet Black has much more support and also fits into most shoes. However, for shoes that have very little cushoning, I would use Supperfeet Copper that has a layer of foam. |
