13 best iron on transfer papers
Iron-on transfer paper is a type of specialty paper used in various craft and DIY projects, particularly in the realm of arts, crafts, sewing, and fabric embellishments. These papers are designed to transfer printed images or designs onto fabric or other surfaces using heat and pressure, typically with the help of an iron.
Key features and aspects of iron-on transfer paper include:
Types of Transfer Paper: There are different types of iron-on transfer papers available, including ones designed for light fabrics, dark fabrics, and even for specific materials like vinyl or leather. It's essential to choose the appropriate type for your project to achieve the best results.
Printing: You can use an inkjet or laser printer to print your desired image or design onto the transfer paper. Ensure that you follow the printer's guidelines for paper type and settings to achieve a crisp and vibrant print.
Image Reversal: When printing on iron-on transfer paper, the image must be reversed or mirrored before printing. This step is crucial to ensure that the transferred image appears correctly when applied to the fabric.
Cutting: Depending on your project, you may need to trim the printed image or design to fit the desired area on your fabric or surface accurately.
Application: To transfer the design to fabric or another surface, preheat your iron to the recommended temperature specified on the transfer paper's packaging. Place the paper with the printed side down onto the fabric and apply firm, even pressure with the hot iron. Be sure to follow the instructions provided with the transfer paper for the best results.
Peeling: After applying heat and pressure for the recommended time, allow the paper to cool for a moment. Then, carefully peel off the backing paper, leaving the transferred image on the fabric.
Washing and Care: It's essential to follow the care instructions provided with the transfer paper. Typically, garments or items with iron-on transfers should be washed inside out and in cold water to preserve the image's longevity.
Durability: The durability of iron-on transfers can vary depending on the quality of the transfer paper and the care taken during application and washing. In general, they may not be as long-lasting as other methods like screen printing or embroidery.
Iron-on transfer paper is widely used for creating custom T-shirts, tote bags, pillow covers, and other fabric-based crafts. It allows individuals to add personalized designs, graphics, or text to various items quickly and with relative ease, making it a popular choice in the world of arts, crafts, and sewing.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I wash in a machine? And how long should I wait before the first wash |
Answer: | The overall length including both connectors is 12 inches. The length of the wire between the connectors is 8 inches. Hope this answers your question. |
Question: | do you need specific ink or can you do use regular ink |
Answer: | How many amps is your charger for that? Also, those golf cart batteries are probably wired up in series so make sure you wore this up properly. These state they are rated to 5amp. I would go online and see what golf cart companies have available, they should have something bigger, the ones I’ve seen are actual three prong plugs like a regular 110 plug |
Question: | will the paper turn clear once it is ironed on |
Answer: | The size depends on which of the three you are interested in. The O-20 takes a 1" or 25mm hole, the O-30 takes a 9/16" 05 14 mm hole with a 14mm barrel and M14 nut, the O-40 takes a 25/32" or 15mm hole. It does not state it, but suspect they all have corresponding sized metric threads. |
Question: | Can a laser printer be used on these |
Answer: | I just pruchased the O-40 version for myoff road trailer as the descriptions says, the iwre is stamped 18 awg. For my powerfilm solar panal this s just fine (had to make a delphi weather pack to SAE adapter as I couldn't find exterior dephi ports only SAE). All the acessory cables and extension cables for the powerfilm solar panels all use 18awg wire. P3Solar panel wires are also 18awg. The weather protection cap on this port is excellent and seems much more protective and durable than others such as zampf. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How closely do you have to cut images? If you don't cut closely enough will there be a white border |
Answer: | Probably not, but it is thin fabric and may get worn out if it's touched a lot. Color will probably stick but may get worn and tear if it's abused. |
Question: | Can i use these on a charcoal gray shirt |
Answer: | According to the instruction I had (2015), you can wash with softner, cold water gentle, no soap. |
Question: | Would this work for printing white font onto black shirts? If so, how would I do this |
Answer: | I have not done it but imagine a fusible backing would work. I’d be careful to pick one that is flexible like fabric rather than stiff. |
Question: | does it work on sweatshirt |
Answer: | My wife uses the basic inkjet sheets. Both are Inkjet Fabric sheets. The "lawn" sheets are slightly higher quality I think. Here is a link to the webpage for the manufacturer of both. http://electricquilt.com/online-shop/lawn-inkjet-fabric/ |

Question: | When I’m getting ready to iron my image on my shirt do I need to peel the back paper part off? The directions don’t say to do this |
Answer: | My understanding is these needles fit Singer sewing machines universally. I’ve even used them on my old sears sewing machine. |
Question: | so lets say i wanted to put an image that has white in it on the dark shirt, would this paper work for that? The white will show up on the shirt |

Question: | Will this crack after washing |
Answer: | I purchased these for a Kenmore purchased in the 70's and they work fine. They also fit my more recently purchased Singer 9970. |

Answer: | Do you have it on the transfer side instead of the backside..I have made a mistake doing that before and it wouldnt transfer also make sure you take a piece of paper and put it over the transfer so when you put it on it will come off nice and clean or otherwise your print will stick to the iron.. |
Question: | Is the paper compatible with the hp color laserjet series of printers? i have noticed "hp - not recommended" on some other laser-printer papers |

Question: | Will this work well with a canon imageprograf pro-300 printer or no |

Question: | Can you use regular prayer ink or what type of ink do you need |
Answer: | No. It can only be used with inkjet printers. |

Question: | Cuanto tiempo dura el diseño en el polo |
Answer: | yes you can use the regular printer ink from your standard inkjet printer such as a HP, EPSON, Lexmark, Brother, Canon etc.. Plus please know in addition you could print our DARK with a Color laser printer. did you know that we offer as well specialty transfers such as glow in the dark or sparkle ? Best regards your NuFun Activity Team |
Question: | Do you just print the design and iron it on, or do you have to peel it first and then iron it |
Answer: | This product is best for cotton but can be used on polyester as long as the item you are transferring onto can withstand the very high heat of the iron required for the process to work. You might also need to reduce the ironing time a little to compensate for the polyester but should never reduce the heat of the iron. |
Question: | Can you use this on a sequins pillow |
Answer: | This transfer has a MATT finish. It is not possible to finish this product in gloss. |
Question: | Anyone try washing it |
Answer: | We have an Epson Artisan 1430 and it works beautifully. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it tolerate 356 temp and 15 sec? And can it pick up htv printable vinyl |
Answer: | Yes, I tested it with cotton Works great on surg-masks. And I also bought their 50pcs Cotton Fabric and Braided Elastic Cord. |
Question: | Does this work for glitter patterned htv |
Answer: | Yes it is hand held but I’m not sure if it will work for a car. I watch my mom use the machine and she can lift it up to adjust the angle but I never saw her sewing anything to a car sorry |
Question: | how do you peel away the paper back |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Does the actual clear adhesive side have a grid on it? Or is it just the backing that has the grid |
Answer: | Just pull it off the machine. It didn't feel like it'd be what you should do, but I looked it up online and yes that black screw looking thing just slips out of its hole. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be use on mugs |
Answer: | The squares align on a metric grid... 5 squares/2 cm. |
Question: | Can this be used to make a fabric/ cotton mask |
Answer: | Yes, the paper is perforated at the bottom of the "Amazon Basics" border to enable pages to be removed, but it is very thin and I've found that it does not tear away cleanly very easily. Many of the sheets are left with jagged and torn edges. |
Question: | Will this product work on Muslin fabric |
Answer: | 6 squares in 15/16ths of an inch. Not really very standard. |
Question: | How well does this hold up after a wash? Does it shrink |
Answer: | I would estimate around 150 pages each for a total of around 450 all together |

Washing Instructions
LASTS FOR OVER 30 WASHES - No need to worry about the image fading in the wash. Please don’t expect any prints from any brand transfer paper to last for years. However, our high quality transfer paper would stick around for months of regular use.
· Wait 24 Hours before washing the garment
· Wash in a Washing Machine using a FULL SPIN CYCLE.
· NOT Suitable for HAND Washing or Delicate cycles
· Turn the t-shirt (or any other item used) inside out before washing it.
· Try not to iron on the printed image again. If you need to press the printed section, turn the image inside out and iron it.
Trouble-shooting
We at Raimarket make sure that our transfer papers have been extensively tested so that you get the best images at first attempt. However, in some cases, you may encounter the following common problems:
a. Some of the Image did not Transfer — Heat of the Iron or pressure applied is not high enough. Ensure the Iron is on FULL temperature and that all areas of the image are ironed applying maximum pressure. Also. make sure you are working on a solid surface. Make sure all areas are ironed for decent amount of time
An Iron Board is not suitable for this process
b. Garment has turned brown before the ironing is completed -- You are using a very hot iron and can therefore can reduce the ironing time by about 30%
c. During washing, some ink ran — Wash garments In a washing machine only and DONOT hand wash.
d. Ink is fading – Please use the silicon paper again on the printed area for 1 minute ironing
Important Note
This transfer paper can only be used on 100% cotton or poly/cotton blend fabric. For light colour t-shirts or any cotton fabric only.
Please choose dark version of Raimarket Magic Transfer Paper for all excellent printing results on DARK fabric.
