I can't control the machine well with this foot pedal as it is so light weight a wind will tip it over....thus you won't get a smooth start on this machine. You press down a hear a hum and then press again and it goes full speed until you lift your foot back off the pedal. Look for another machine, or better yet try one out at a sewing machine dealer to make sure it works smoothly. My machine is going to Goodwill. |

I tried using heavy duty "canvas" rated needles, but was far more successful with smaller standard duty needles even though one of them broke. There were times I had to coax it along when there were like 3 or 4 layers, but once it was going it would just keep on sewing the entire length. |

| Answer: | It is not dual voltage, 110V only. I contacted Brother who said I can use a stepdown transformer, BUT they do not recommend it. Still, since I bought this on Amazon and I live in the Philippines, freight back was not something I wanted to lay on anyone. Therefore, I bought a 500 Watt step down transformer to ensure I made the 2 amp requirement for operation. I carefully plugged everything in and all work perfectly. The 500 watt transformer handles things beautifully. My lady loves the Brother and says it does everything she could want. She just made fitted sheets for our bed and they came out perfect. She highly recommends this machine. |

In fact, one of the cool presser feet that comes with this machine is the open toe darning foot, which is a bonus!... People who wish to embroider, use this foot to do so. You Tube has many fine videos that will show you how to do free motion embroidery, on a regular machine, with just an everyday wooden hoop. Just type in free motion embroidery tutorials in the you tube search area, and you will be busy for hours, learning to this method. Enjoy! |

| Answer: | Depends what you want it for. Simple sewing like clothing or piecing quilt tops should be okay - putting quilts together NO! The throat is not big enough for free motion quilting and it doesn’t do well with bulky material. Your needle will snap, bobbin will have a nervous breakdown and you’ll get error codes that will make you want to pull your hair out when you try to clear them. But if you set on buying this model or the CS6000i here is the skinny - it is easy to use if you stick to the book or YouTube for help and FOLLOW the step by step instructions. It’s a cute machine for newbies but an albatross around experienced quilters necks |

I love idea that you can sew without using a presser foot, but can control your stitches on the front of the machine. Love to be able to see when the bobbin is getting low, various speeds, even some decorative stitches for you. It's quiet, fun, light weight for taking to classes, or for my motorhome. It is the only brand they sell and considered by the owner and staff, at least, to be the best all-around needles for machine embroidery. I had this same kit delivered right before I got my machine. Everything in it is high quality and was a wonderful way to start out with the essentials. The threads have a gorgeous sheen to them, the stabilizers are on the same level as what I buy at the shop. You can't go wrong. |

| Answer: | It depends on the design sizes. As a rule off thumb you should never shrink or grow a design more than 20 percent. Therefore, use the design that is closest to the size you want. Remember also, that even though you have a 4 x 4 hoop Your Design needs to be smaller than 4 by 4 because the embroidery foot needs to be able to get near the edge that can't do the entire 4 by 4 Square because of the frame. There is a filler cap in this hole that you will need to remove in order to insert the Auxiliary spool pin. The filler cap appears to be just a small round circle. You will see a small hole in the filler cap where you insert a straight pin to pop it out of the machine. Before using the sewing machine:
1. Manual is very important.
Always try to read the manual, no matter you are experienced or beginners, manual will help you with better sewing experience. The manual has its own gold house. We also made accessible video with subtitle for you to start. With these, sewing won't be difficult for you.
2. Wide applications on sewing fabrics
This is sewing and quilting machine, fabric no thicker than 5mm works fine with Z6 sewing machine.
Your fabric will determine the choice of a needle and thread. There is table in our manual which is a practical guide to needle and thread selection on Page 10. Always refer to it before a new sewing project. And be sure to use the same size and type of thread in the bobbin as in the top thread supply.
Warm prompt:
1. If jam happens, you can check from below aspects:
a. Top thread is not well threaded
Make sure thread pass all the slots as in the manual and retry.
b. The top thread tension is not appropriate
The bobbin tension has been correctly set at the factory, so you do not need to adjust it. Just need to adjust the top thread tension, 90% of your sewing will be done with the top thread tension control set at “4”. You can have a trial test on the fabric before start the main project.
2. The feed dogs don't come up
a. First, make sure the feed dog control is right in the position. When turn to right side, it is push down and then to the right, like an "L" as showing in the manual.
b. Rotate the hand wheel after switch to the feed dog side to see the feed dog raise to the right position.
c. Restart the sewing machine.
3. When want to use letter mode
a. Use Satin stitch foot (Z).
b. If you want to larger the space between letters, don't forget to use manual adjustment buttons.
