Answer:	Hello - I generally buy a cotton/poly blend - it is durable and quite easily found. Coates & Clarke is a vey well known brand. It would also help if you knew what kind of projects she might be undertaking...the weight of the thread varies with the task. I just googled "Brand names for sewing Threads"and there were a variety of experts writing on the subject if you want to take the exploration further...Good luck!

Answer:	No. It's not strong enough to work on such material as Tennis shoes. This is great for a quick hem or fix on lightweight material. Hand stitching would be what I recommend. You can use either a leather/denim quality needle or upholstery needles. A heavy weight thread or clear fishing line is recommended also.
Question:	could this work to hem kid's denim pants
Answer:	Ik it's good for hemming. I don't think denim would be an issue far as being too think.
Question:	Does it sew on cardstock paper
Answer:	I have not personally tried it on card stock but I would assume it would work just fine once you determined how loose or tight you want the stitching.

Answer:	All depends on how deep the grout line is. I have every pad and brush and still find the best way to clean my grout is on my knees with a small stainless steel brush and muriatic acid solution. Takes for ever , but the grout looks brand new.

Answer:	I can not say with certainty, with out seeing the stain. It could be 3" dia or much larger and how long the water sat on the floor soaking in. I used it with success on my floors cleaning up different stains. It mostly depended on if they were surface stains or really soaked in. What also helped with mine was using Murphy cleaning oil mixed with some water sprinkled on the floor then using the pad while wet. If you use it, try on a remote spot first. Hope that helps

Answer:	This machine comes with the belt but it has to be put into an actual old fashioned treadle sewing machine cabinet. There are newer cabinets that are made but they are very pricey. I was lucky enough to already have a cabinet that I had the old treadle machine switched out for the new 712T Treadle Powered Sewing Machine.

Answer:	Yes - This is one of the easiest machines to use. You will get used to the foot pedal very fast to control the speed. I have given several of these machines away as presents. I also keep two of these machines at all times.They get used of leather work, quilting and wearable art such as jackets and shirts. A great machine !!!
Question:	does this machine have foot pedal
Answer:	Yes there is a foot control but it is the Achilles Heel of the machine. I can't control the machine well with this foot pedal as it is so light weight a wind will tip it over....thus you won't get a smooth start on this machine. You press down a hear a hum and then press again and it goes full speed until you lift your foot back off the pedal. Look for another machine, or better yet try one out at a sewing machine dealer to make sure it works smoothly. My machine is going to Goodwill.
Question:	Can I use my metal bobbins in my machine or do I need to use the plastic ones
Answer:	All top load machines use plastic bobbins except for older early singers with metal bobbin case,there is a magnetic ring attached to the hook center that holds the plastic bobbin case from rattling and to slow its movement, if you use metal bobbins they become held by the magnetic transfer through the bobbin case floor (metal) and limit or restrict bobbin rotation,if you remove the magnet you can use the metal bobbins,however it will be noisey and excelarate wear on the bobbin case
Question:	can this machine sew thru heavy duty canvas or leather
Answer:	I was able to use it to repair the canvas top of my gazebo. In fact, this the primary reason I purchased it. I tried using heavy duty "canvas" rated needles, but was far more successful with smaller standard duty needles even though one of them broke. There were times I had to coax it along when there were like 3 or 4 layers, but once it was going it would just keep on sewing the entire length.

Without examining the machine we cannot say for certain what the cause of your issues is. However we do have some suggestions that we hope may resolve your issue: Here are a few solutions to try: The machine needs to be located on a sturdy table of some type. This model of machine has been pre-lubricated at the factory and usually does not need additional lubricating right away. You can however put 2 to 3 small drops of sewing machine oil in the bobbin case area, as well as on the needle bar, this will not harm the machine. You may also put a few drops (2 to 3) on the hand wheel where it meets the side of the machine. Also Check or change the needle, a dull needle will cause the machine to sew loudly and may cause the needle to break. Also be aware that if you sew on multiple layers that are too thick and it raises the presser foot too high (higher than the normal up position of the presser foot), the top tension will be disengaged and the machine will not make a proper stitch (may jam machine). Therefore if you plan to sew patches onto denim vests/ jackets on a regular basis you may want to look at one of our Heavy Duty model sewing machines. The Singer Heavy Duty model sewing machine not only has a stronger motor for sewing but the presser foot lifts higher allowing you to sew thicker projects with ease.
