It is not needed for writeable or iron on/invisible products. Then the transfer tape is available in different lengths. If you are only doing iron on or writeable then you don't need transfer tape. You only need it to adhere smart vinyls.

Answer:	Not really. I found that it did pick up the foil no matter how much I rubbed the front and back of it. And then when you finally lift the foil and put it down on a surfaces, its not forgiving at all. It sticks things down right away without any ability to lift it back up and I ruined a few projects because of it. I know there was a money back guarantee on the product but when I went to their website, I was unable to find anything regarding WHERE this was to be returned I was a bit disappointed.

Lay tape onto the surface, pressing down as you go. Don’t stretch the tape, or it may lift or break.

Secure Tape

Press tape down firmly with a smooth edge, like a putty knife or credit card.

Let Tape Set

Wait about 30 to 60 minutes before you begin painting.

Wait

Wait until the paint is dry to the touch before removing the tape. Check the paint can for the manufacturer's dry times.

Score

Use a putty knife or razor blade to score along the edge of the tape. This prevents paint from being pulled up with the tape and from cracking along the paint line.

Tape

Taking your time, lift up the painter’s tape and pull it back on itself, removing at a 45 degree angle. If adhesive sticks to the surface, try a 90-degree angle.

Answer:	The adhesive is very strong on this transfer tape. I have reused pieces more than a dozen times. I imagine the transfer tape will work well on textured vinyl in the beginning but will lessen faster than with regular 651 vinyl.

Answer:	I don’t believe it is. I remember reading somewhere that it was not dishwasher safe. And so when I put some on some coffee cups, I have hand washed them instead of putting them in the dishwasher. They have held up pretty well handwashing.
