Answer:	Each piece of floss on the thread card has 6 strands. If directions require 2 strands separate one strand thread needle and knot ends. You now have 2 strands on your needle. If directions say 4 strands separate 2 strands thread needle with both strands knot ends. You are ready to stitch with 4 strands. Hint--if they ask for 3 strand I usually use 4 strands (2doubled). 6 strand is best to double 3 and knot. Hope this helps. They are a fun project. Enjoy
