Answer: Hi. The size of the needles is clearly marked, it is the circumference of the needles. What is just as important is the length of the nylon wire that joins the needles. The fewer the stitches the smaller the wire. All pkgs will tell you if the nylon wire is 10", 14" or 20". Circular are great for large amount of stitches. They can be used as easily as straight needles. I hope your reply is helpful.

Answer: I believe the length is 16". Mine are mixed in with other tools, some really old, some new, in packs by size. I shopped a lot of garage sales and have collected for awhile. Never get tired of handwork and I'll be 70 soon. Have joy creating🙂

Answer: Good question! I use two circulars at at time (of the same size) for knitting socks, hats, mitts or anything else in the round. It's a lot easier than double pointed needles. actually, I've never used the magic loop! Hope this helps.

Answer: Only three needles are needed because they bend in the middle. You keep your stitches on 2 needles instead of 4 and use the third needle to knit onto. Answer: Well I thought I had it figured out but was wrong but kept them because it was what I ordered! I just googled this chart: http://p2tog.com/conversionchart.html It shows it would be US size 000 through size 8, Should have done this before I ordered. I had a size checker and that is also how they measured. It is really cool for the price if you use these sizes frequently but I usually don't use anything smaller than US size 5

Answer: You do not need two! These Hiya Hiyas 9" circulars are EXCELLENT for sock making. Make sure you use a yarn that says "for socks" on the label and look at the label to determine what size needle you will need. Usually for socks it is U.S. size 1, 2 or 3. Go to YouTube look for a video series by Springers Yarn Nook (she is now out of business but her tutorials remain); she has a complete from start to finish step by step on how to make socks (she uses U.S. Size 2 needles and sock yarn) with these very Hiya Hiya's. Once you get the concept of a sock construct, it's not hard at all. Hiya Hiya sharps 9" and ChiaoGoo 9" are the best needles for sock making. The difference between the two being the needle lengths. When you get to the toe decrease you will need another pair of needles (Mrs. Springer shows step by step how to use two circulars for knitting in the round for the toe decrease section) not necessarily another Hiya Hiya. I use a cheap Clover bamboo Size 2 fixed circular for that section. She uses a three needle bind off but I use a Kitchner which involves a tapestry needle, the Clover bamboos and my Hiya Hiyas. Also if you purchase socks yarn, there is bound to be a basic sock pattern on the inside of the label. Ravelry has some written patterns and YouTube has a ton of beginner tutorials. Once you make a few socks, you will get addicted. Everyone does. Hope this helps!

Answer: No. The cords have a screw type end on each end to screw into the wooden needles. I can’t foresee needing more then 48” cord.

Question: How fine of yarn can the needles reasonably handle? Specifically, has anyone had any issues with the tips being too blunt
Answer: I haven't had difficulty with the tips being too blunt, but neither have I used very fine yarn. I could see where that may be an issue.
Question: What material is the cord made from? Is it plastic
Answer: Yes, it's plastic, but very smooth and flexible (also swivels). To get the "curls" out, you can dunk it in hot water, and then stretch it straight and run it under cold water immediately after the hot water dunk. I do this with all my circular cords and it works really well.
