Open the unit by removing the two mesh filters and locate the switch in the middle of the fan unit. Remove the screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

Change Switch Position

Change the switch position to the ductless position which allows the exhaust to flow out of the front vent. Replace screw with Phillips screwdriver.

Answer:	This fan allows cooking fumes to pass through a grease filter and a thin replaceable activated charcoal filter. It cannot absorb large amounts of cooking odors or smoke. You need a fan that is ducted to the outside to effectively remove cooking odors and smoke.

Answer:	That's correct. The air flows through the filter on the underside and out through the three columns of vent slats you see on the front of the range hood. There is no connection to other vents or ducts in a wall or through the roof.
Question:	I will be plugging the rangehood into the wall, will I need a power cord kit
Answer:	I'm not sure what your setup is, but when I did mine, I hardwired the hood into the existing black and white wires that were used in the old hood. Chances are that if you don't have the pre wired design that I had, you will need a power cord kit if you plan to physically plug the unit into a traditional wall socket.

Answer:	This is a convertible range hood. It can be ducted or non-ducted. . If you require a non-ducted installation, you must purchase the charcoal filters separately. The non duct filters for this range hood are HPF30. Thank you.

Answer:	While this is a convertible range hood, it only comes with the aluminum filters. The charcoal filters are sold separately. Question:	I purchased the Z-line ZLKB30 about a year ago and love it. I recently noticed one of the lights go out which I didn't expect this soon. Doesn't look like the bulb can be changed but the whole assembly. How do i go about ordering this part? Thank you
Answer:	I understand this was answered 6 years ago from this date, but I wanted to put the bulb type for my purposes in the future if I have to get any more. The bulb type is MR11 12v 20W halogen reflector with two pins. They lasted 6 years for me (and only one burned out). I ended up getting an equivalent LED as suggested. I like the hood for sure.
Question:	Will it work for a 9 foot ceiling or do I need the extender
Answer:	It absolutely will NOT work for a 9 foot ceiling. It'll end up being about 8 inches too short. I'm finding this out the hard way, and the extensions are not cheap.
Question:	Can this hood be vented through the wall instead of the roof? And if yes, do I need any additional venting materials
Answer:	Hello, This hood can be vented through the wall, however the ducting comes out the top of the hood and must continue vertically 10-15" before elbowing out the back wall.
