The long white strips (and the short ones) are a protective film that goes on top of the washer along the sides to keep the finish from being damaged (they don't provide any holding/structural support). The instruction sheet that comes with the kit shows where to place them - if you didn't get one, you may be able to download it from Electrolux's support site.

Question:	Is the bottom also encased or does it drape over the top/front/sides/back only
Answer:	This cover only draped over the top, front and sides. It ties in the back, so the back is not covered either. Yes, I thought the whole unit would be covered, but not, and realized that, especially for the dryer, one would not want to have the back covered due to the heat. As far as the washer though, it is too bad the back isn't covered. That is why the cost is not too bad. I'd imagine the cost would be twice as much or more if the covers went over the backs of the units, and, it seems as the description makes it seem as the cover goes on top and all 4 sides, so I almost thing the description and pictures are completely misleading. I did not return mine, though, because I just needed a cover for the fact my downstairs is getting remodeled and I needed some protection from the dust.

Answer:	"Septic safe" on the box means it won't corrode pipes and concrete (tank). That misses the essential element, will it disturb the ecology of the tank (kill the bacteria that are essential for septic operation). Caustic materials like drain cleaner are very bad for your septic, bleach not so bad probably because of the dilution in the washer. I am relating here the information conveyed to me by my county department of licenses and inspection septic system expert and a licensed septic inspector. So the anlswer depends on the materials used, which are not stated anywhere. 7 months is not sufficient time to evaluate. You don't want to learn after three years that you've poisoned the system and clogged the drainage field, requiring a $8,000 to $10,000 job to replace something that should have lasted 40 years. Here's what's in it according to the safety data sheet supplied by Whirlpool via Home Depot: Polyoxy(methyl-1,2-ethanediyl), a-hydro-w-hydroxy- 1% Sodium Carbonate Peroxyhydrate 50% - 70% Boric Acid 20% - 30% Sodium Carbonate 20% - 30% Tetrasodium EDTA 1% Most of these are found in everyday laundry detergent. Tetrasodium EDTA is a preservative. The long weird name stuff is the joker in the mix, perhaps more research is needed. I'm not sure I will risk using this in my washer, as I try to take good care of my septic system. Answer:	Since I have a Maytag HE washer and have used this product with excellent success. I would say yes.
