Question:	Can this be used for oven hood duct system
Answer:	Sure it can be used as a hood duct, on the premise that you have access to cleaning weekly it and that your range hood cfm requirements are so low that it only needs a 4 inch duct. Or get an hvac person to ask questions or do that job for you, since your question was asked, I assume you are not proficient with HVAC cfm requirements for a range hood or the constant cleaning/dangers that are involved in using a duct system with ribs. Question:	Can this vent be placed behind the dryer? We have front load stackable, just curios if this should be on the side or can go directly behind
Answer:	It has to be placed so air can flow through it. So I would say it is a function of how much room you have got behind. We actually have ours attached to the outside vent that is under our patio roof but we have a house. I don't know if that's possible in your case.
Question:	Are the filters washable/reusable? How much use are you getting before they need to be replaced
Answer:	I read the comments below... As I am getting ready to order new filters. I have had this system for approximately 3 months and even ordered a replacement package of filters when I purchased it. I appreciate the suggestions as I have found the filters need to be replaced more often than noted. I have found this system to work well my only complaint is with the filters. I do laundry for my husband and I ..so not what I consider to be a lot. If possible, I believe the screen used with the filter should be smaller allowing more of the lint to be trapped by it instead of the filter.
Question:	Does the unit need to be mounted on a wall or can it be laid on the top of the dryer
Answer:	Mine isn't mounted but it rather wedged between the dryer and the wall. Because it's waterless I believe you could lay it or possibly lean it if you wanted.

Answer:	I am glad I read all these answers, they were very helpful. Now I know for my application this product will work great. I am installing a Gas Dryer on a back porch with an awning over it. The vent line is difficult to run cleanly away from the porch. I was concerned about all that lint, but I believe since I am exterior, no fume issues in an enclosed indoor space, this product should serve me well. Does anyone force any issues? Thanks

Question:	Is the duct hose 8 feet long
Answer:	Definitely not! The product dimensions state that it's 28 inches long, but I have a feeling that's the shipping size, and it will stretch somewhat longer than that, but NOT 8 feet!
Question:	Confused how this attaches to the dryer. Does it include connectors that stay attached to the dryer and the wall and the pipe clips in
Answer:	It includes connectors. They are simply pushed into place. They will stay if there is not too much tension on the unit. I had to duct tape mine for them to stay in place.
Question:	Is this a lot strong than the foil ones? My cat shredded 2 of those
Answer:	My cat too shredded the foil type, so I ordered this one. This cannot be shredded, its made very strong. I was unable to use this however, as the ends easily slid off in attempts to connect it to the "tubes". When it has to go from high to low connections (or low to high) its stiffness makes it hard to stay on. If the connection is pretty much vertical its easier. But like a previous comment, you will need something to secure it to each end, especially with kitties around!
Question:	Can the plastic end withstand the dryer heat? Can the flexible duct be cut to size and put the plastic end secyrely back
Answer:	Yes! The plastic end can withstand the heat. Now here comes the problem! When you try to cut the flexible duct it starts to unreaval and you cannot get it to stop when you try to work with it. I ended up just throwing it in the trash.

Question:	Will this system cause thd dryer not to turn on
Answer:	I don't see why it would keep your dryer from coming on. I love mine so much, I got one for my daughter. I used it all last winter and then disconnected it and returned the air hose to the outside vent in the Spring. I just reconnected it yesterday to vent back inside, now that the weather is getting cooler. My dryer is about 6 years old, but my daughter's is only 2 years old and the deflecto dryer lint trap works great with both our machines. We are using it to keep all that heat and humidity inside for the winter while it is cold and dry outside. Hope this is helpful.
Question:	How many gallons of water you can put inside? I am using simple bucket with some nylon net to catch lint

Answer:	We have a similar set up, in the garage without access to a wall for outdoor venting. We’ve used this device for many years. We have a super long coil attached so we open the garage door and leave it outside while using the gas dryer. We replace this vent every other year. It’s worked fine up until now, thankfully!

Answer:	It can be cut. You’ll need wire cutters to cut the spiral wire and regular scissors for the material. I only used half of the hose provided.

Question:	Can you cut the ducting to any length
Answer:	You need dryer hose for both ends
Question:	The elbow kit with ducting comes with 2 elbows, or just 1? How long is the ducting
Answer:	I knocked 2 large headed nails into the wall behind the unit. Heads werec sticking out about 1/4 inch. About 2 1/2 inches apart. It has a lip on the backside I hung on the nail Heads.
Question:	Is this made of steel or aluminum? What gauge metal
Answer:	The entire thing is a bit flimsy as it is 7 individual pieces that fit together. My experience has been that with the warmer air, the plastic expands and if you try to pop off the filter and don't do it just right, it will start coming apart. It's not specifically an issue with the lever, as that stays in place fine as long as the rest of it stays together. We have had ours about 2 months now and it hangs on the wall behind the washer and dryer and I have to reach (I'm 5'2) and it's tricky to remove the filter piece and not mess up the rest so we've had to reassemble it about 5-6 times. As for the dusty film, that hasn't been a problem at all. If you clean the lint filter on both the dryer and this each time you run the dryer, there shouldn't be a problem. I have been surprised at the amount of lint this catches!

Answer:	NO! Your gas dryer exhaust will contain carbon monoxide and possibly unburned natural gas. So unless you want to kill yourself and your family, don't vent a gas dryer indoors!

Question:	At the wall end, will this fit over the aldes 4 inch round spring loaded backdraft damper
Answer:	I don’t know for sure. My problem was after researching I found plastic will melt under those circumstances and are not recommended on dryers. The thin , flexible ones are not recommended either. Because of a short space the plumber cut from a formed duct to make it work. Much safer and won’t break like the previous one did.
Question:	I require a solution of the vent hose to the outside. My outtake vent-hole is glass block, also 4 inch. I want a secure connection, tight-fitting
Answer:	Connection to our vent attached to a metal connection. A rubber band is placed around the metal piece and when the piece slips on it grabs the rubber and stays on. Don't know if it would work in your case but there is a YouTube video that show it.
Question:	Once installed, can the ends be disconnected periodically, like once a year, to clean out lint? If so, do I need new rubber seals each time
Answer:	Absolutely, you can just pull it off the duct and clean out the hose and your ducting and put it back on with the same seal. The seal should stay on the duct and be just fine to reuse.

The dryer hose adapter

The dryer hose slips over the dryer hose adapter in the same manner it normally slips over the vent pipe. The dryer hose may be fastened to the dryer hose adapter with a clamp, tie-wrap, or an adhesive.



The vent pipe adapter

In most dryer vent installations, the vent pipe protrudes from the floor, wall, or ceiling, about two or more inches. The DRYER DOCK vent pipe adapter mounts flush with the floor, wall, or ceiling. This requires the vent pipe to be cut off flush with the surface. The vent pipe adapter slips inside the vent pipe, and the flange is mounted to the surface with appropriate fasteners.

Question:	Do they make this, or something similar in a 6" diameter
Answer:	Yes, will cut with scissors or tin snips.
Question:	Does it come with the part that is mounted to the wall and the fitting for the hose? All I need is a hose

Question:	Can rats fit through the air holes in the cover
Answer:	No the holes are too small, it does catch a lot of lint, that you have to remove!
Question:	Does the dryer vent go in floor
Answer:	No it does not. This is only part of an overall dryer piping system. This part is an outside vent that goes out through the wall of the home in a 4" diameter hole. This piece slides through the hole from the outside to the inside of the home and gets calked to the outside siding. The other end is an aluminum 4" pipe that connects to pipe within the home. Usually a dryer venting system consists of three major parts: a metal flexible hose that connects between the dryer and 4" dryer pipe, a aluminum or galvanized piping system of 4" dryer pipe and elbows to get the dryer exhaust to an outside wall, and this Deflecto dryer vent which gets the pipe outside and has a flapper and cage so that critters can't get into the home via the dryer vent.

Answer:	Yes, it is all one piece. Very easy to install!

Question:	can u pull it apart and reverse one side so both holes are on the same side or is it truly periscople style only
Answer:	No, it can't be reversed as others here have said, at least not without a lot of cutting and taping which sort of defeats the purpose. I had to return it and buy the 18-27 inch version instead.

Answer:	Of course. The vent pipe doesn't know gas from electric. Hot is hot!
Question:	Do you just cut this in half with tin snips and slide part of it back over itself and then tape it
Answer:	No cutting. It is already in two pieces. It slides up and down and slide it apart for what ever length you need. My husband is a contractor and said it does not need taped if you don't want to tape it. Fits tight. Hope this answered your question.
Question:	Is this 18" from the center of each opening to the other? Or 18" from the very end of the "box" to the other end of the "box"? I need to reach 17" from the exact center of each opening
Answer:	If you look at the layout of the pipe, it should be 18-20" Center to Center and 24" overall. This is per site: partselect.com and type in the model number. The grid is 1" squares.
