15 best quiet dishwashers
Quiet dishwashers are appliances designed to operate with minimal noise, providing a more pleasant kitchen environment. The noise level of a dishwasher is measured in decibels (dB), and quieter models typically have a rating below 50 dB. Here are some general features and considerations associated with quiet dishwashers:
Insulation and Design:
- Quiet dishwashers often have enhanced insulation and a design that reduces vibrations and noise during operation. This can include features like additional layers of insulation in the door and around the motor.
Noise Ratings:
- Dishwashers are categorized into different noise level ranges. A quieter dishwasher may have a rating between 38 dB and 50 dB. Keep in mind that a lower decibel rating corresponds to a quieter operation.
Brands and Models:
- Different brands offer dishwashers with varying noise levels. Brands known for their focus on quiet operation may highlight this feature in their marketing. Popular brands for quiet dishwashers include Bosch, Miele, and KitchenAid.
Sensor Technology:
- Some quiet dishwashers come equipped with advanced sensor technology. These sensors can detect the level of dirtiness on dishes and adjust the wash cycle accordingly. This not only ensures efficient cleaning but can also contribute to quieter operation as the dishwasher doesn't run longer than necessary.
Stainless Steel Tubs:
- Dishwashers with stainless steel tubs are known for dampening noise better than plastic tubs. Stainless steel is also more resistant to stains and odors.
Third Rack Design:
- Some quiet dishwashers feature a third rack for additional loading capacity. This can be convenient for placing smaller items and utensils, reducing the need for multiple wash cycles.
User Reviews:
- Reading user reviews can provide insights into the real-world experiences of people who have purchased and used specific dishwasher models. Users often comment on noise levels, efficiency, and other aspects of performance.
When looking for a quiet dishwasher, it's essential to consider your specific needs and preferences. Additionally, check the product specifications and user reviews for detailed information on noise levels and other features.

User questions & answers
Question: | How energy efficient is the DW |
Answer: | Yes, this is a 24 inch dishwasher. Extremely quiet. |
Question: | What is the depth of the handle (from front panel to highest point of handle |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | E:15 display on 18 inch. Machine won't turn off. I've tripped the circuit breaker but it displays the same error. Can you advise |
Answer: | It doesn’t connect from bottom- it connects from the back/ and it has a L shaped connector in the back of the unit. |
Question: | Does it plug into a standard 3 prong outlet or do I need to hardwire this dishwasher |
Answer: | This dishwasher dries like no other dishwasher I've ever used. I was skeptical at first that there is no heating element, but the dishes come out spotless and perfectly dry (except plastic. If I put a plastic item between drinking glasses, then it will come out dry). This dishwasher uses a very hot final rinse and then shuts off. As the stainless steel sides cool, it pulls the moisture off of the dishes and to the sides of the dishwasher, and from there it runs down to the drain. I just wait 5 minutes after a load is washed before unloading. That is enough time for the dishes to dry. They are still VERY hot at this point, but I'm able to handle them while unloading. One more note . . . I have always used the jet dry rinse aid in the dispenser like it recommends. I'm not sure what results I would get without it. I might try it sometime when the dispenser runs out. I like the results of the jet dry, though. The dishes are so shiny and spot free. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this have to be hard wired only? OR Can it be plugged into an outlet |
Answer: | I tested turning my sink knob only 1/2 way open (ON) and the dishwasher starts a cycle but then stops and beeps, flashing an error code for low water pressure because it’s unable to fill the tank at the required rate. The hose pressure is important and it works fine with the sink all the way on. |
Question: | Does this come with everything you need to install built in |
Answer: | It hooks up to the faucet and discharges out of the same hose. You hook it up to the back of dishwasher it splits into two hoses. One for water coming in and one for water coming out. I discharges into sink it doesn't spit out a lot at a time. It cycles in and out. The quick connect to the hose is water tight the pressure is not enough to break and flood. Your water is always on in any sink. A handle turning is just opening the valve. Dishwasher opens and closes that 'valve' itself. |
Question: | The dimensions seem to be swapped. my previous danby washer was 17.7 inches wide and 21.5 inches deep. however, the description above is just the opp |
Answer: | Yes, you can. A standard dishwasher hose kit will work for the inlet water. The dishwasher actually uses a standard 3/4 garden hose threaded supply line. The drain uses a different connection that is smaller. Around a 1/2 or 3/8 size. It could easily be connected to a regular drain line though. Someone posted a pic in comments but it doesn't not need that many elaborate connections. |
Question: | Does this unit have a drying cycle |
Answer: | Yes this unit has an internal water heater boosting water temperature up to 149 degrees Fahrenheit, but keep in mind it will not boost the temperatures up that high if the water fed into the dishwasher is not already hot. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The space I have available for this machine is on the floor. Will that interfere with the function of the machine because of water pressure? Thank you |
Answer: | Very. The only noise you will really hear is the water being discharged during wash and rinse cycles. Other than that, very quiet! |
Question: | Where can I find the manual, the link on the Danby site is dead |
Answer: | Yes. It comes with hoses for intake and discharge, plus an adapter that fits most kitchen faucets that you attach the hose mechanism to. |
Question: | does the water input turn off by itself |
Answer: | You can buy a 5ft 3 wire extension cord from wal mart or similar. Cut off female end of plug, strip back cord covering exposing the 3 wires. Strip wire ends and connect white to white, black to black and green to green inside the small electrical junction box on the front bottom right side of the appliance. Then plug it in. Appliance is made to be hard wired but installing a cord is not a difficult job. All tools and supplies can be purchased at wal mart or home store. I just unwired the cord from my old dishwasher and put it on this one. This machine is great and cleans like none other also very quiet. |
Question: | What are the deminsions |
Answer: | It's extremely quiet. I can barely hear it, even in the same room. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Bosch recommends powder detergent. Can you use a liquid gel without harming the dishwasher |
Answer: | Regulations on energy use. Today's dishwashers are more efficient, but at the cost of much longer cycles, wet dishes, and reliance on chemical drying agents. |
Question: | Can you install a front Board from my kitchen cabinet style? So it’s fully built in? Or do you see the stainless steel front |
Answer: | It should. I recall my manual listed some bizarre sequence of button pressed that sometime works, and based of buttons blinking one way or another you can set the volume from loud/louder/loudest or off. I just looked for my manual and couldn't find it, so I guess I am doomed to constant shrill beeping all night. What a smart design.Edit: Found it online.
