You can either strip the wire back a little fi=urther so the insulation stops at the connector, or you can slightly shave down the insulation to make it thinner so it slides partially into the end of the connector. |

For that, strip the wires, place some shrink tubing on one of the wires, solder, let it cool, slide the shrink tube over, shrink it. Some times, when there is sufficient wire length, I place two different size shrink tube,. shrinking the smaller one first, letting it cool. The slide the larger one over the other. |

Answer: | Wow, so many clueless reviews. Heat shrink can and does contain heat activated adhesive sealant. It does not affect the connection at all, only seals to prevent water intrusion on marine applications such as wiring a bilge pump. I do not know if these have it but you will see a small amount ooze out if it does. |

Question: | Are you certified to use them at 120/127 volts |
Answer: | Wire size and material determine maximum current and loss due to heat (ignore above comment). Insulation determines maximum voltage. 120 volts is American household voltage. These are designed for marine and automotive applications which are typically 12 volts, sometimes 24 volts, and rarely 48 volts or other voltage. I would verify with manufacturer what the maximum voltage the insulation can take is. I repeat, these are not designed for household use, and I have never heard of those voltages in a marine or automotive application. |

Answer: | Make sure to use a crimped for coated connectors. If you puncture the coating they will no longer be waterproof. If that doesn't matter the regular butt connectors are way cheaper. Use these for wet applications and marine for sure. |
