It has a built-in battery, which means, in order to recharge the doorbell, you have to take the entire doorbell off. The RING 2 is the upgraded product, which has a "quick switch" battery. I have 2 batts, keep one charged so I can swap them as needed. RING 3 is the upgraded, new version of RING 2. Essentially the same with a couple new features. Hope that helps. |

I think one reason for the rapid drain may be that our outside cat has figured out that if she sits on the garbage can, we will eventually open the door and let her in. I want to wait before recharging to see how long it will go before it starts begging for attention. Regardless of how long it lasts before requiring a recharge, I am going to purchase a backup battery so I can switch them out instead of having to worry about down time. In my opinion, Ring should package it both as it is currently sold and optionally with a second battery for those who do not have/want wiring. Yes I understand that there would be a price difference in the packaging but that is to be expected. |

I would venture to guess most people enjoy the sound of their current chime vs an electronic sound. The Nest doorbell has had this feature since launch. Bad design choice and feels like this was done to upsell the Ring Chime at the expense of what's beneficial to the consumer. The Video Doorbell 3 uses the existing chime, but it's bulkier and unattractive - would have been nice to use this smaller version. |
