Answer:	The hole that is flush with the face of the controller is a viewing hole so you can see the indicator light. (i.e. the light that turns red when the controller is low on power). That light is on the face of the controller with the L/R buttons, but you can see it through this hole. It isn't for any other pieces or for slotting them together.
