Answer:	Yes it will plug into the console and work but as it does not have a 3.5mm cable it will not plug into the controller or your cellphone. Well worth it though, these headphones are comparable to turtle Beach top lines. Amazing headphones.

I suspect your wife had a chuckle regarding the ears but I'm not sure why she didn't get to use them until she bought you a pair. Seems like that was a little selfish of you to use your supposed gift. So if everyone is happy now it seems as if that was your fate, but I think you might be in for a horrible fate if you decide to continue to receive gifts from the same people you were suposed to be giving them to after you use them first. 😉
