The Razer Ornata Chroma features the all-new Razer Mecha-Membrane that combines the best of both membrane rubber domes and mechanical switches to deliver a typing experience unlike anything before. While traditional rubber dome keyboards are known for their soft cushioned touch, they fail to deliver accurate tactility due to their mushy feel and lack of actuation control. On the other hand, mechanical switches deliver fast actuations and distinct tactile feedback but cause fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this keyboard work for a macbook pro |
Answer: | Yes it does, great keyboard. Using it with a 13" 2014 MacBook Pro. Installed the Razer Synapse software with no problems. |
Question: | Does this keyboard have on-board memory to store the color profiles if attached to a device without the razer software installed on it, such as a XIM |
Answer: | Yes and no. It has some presets (such as the rainbow wave, the color breathing, twilight, ripple, etc) that you can set and then use it on another system that does not have Razor's software on it (even the XIM4). But it will not remember any of the custom settings you apply. For example, you can customize how fast the colors change or what colors show up, but those customizations will only show on the system that is running Razor's software...on all other systems, it will only show the default settings of whatever preset you were last using. |
Question: | Is this keyboard quieter or louder than the black widdow |
Answer: | Depends on what kind of blackwidow you have. Ornata is quieter than tactile, but I think silent blackwidow is quite than ornata |
Question: | Is the wrist rest detachable |
Answer: | Yep, both can be attached and detached easily thanks to a magnet on both parts |

User questions & answers
Question: | What all is needed to connect to ps4 pro?? want to try this with mouse and would prefer the 8 directional thumbstick rather than buttons on fps |
Answer: | You need a USB to PS4 device converter. One such product that I used to get my Logitech G27 paired with my PS4 is called "Cross Hair" BY rEAsNOW tECHNOLOGIES |
Question: | Can the thumb stick be used for player movement? In other words, can the thumb/joystick be used the same as WASD in video games |
Answer: | Yes. Depending upon the game, it can be left "as is" for movement, or it can be programmed. Each of it's directional "keypresses" can be programmed to emulate specific keyboard keys. |
Question: | How does the tartarus v2 feel in camparison to nostromo n52/n52te? similar design minus the extra row |
Answer: | Doesn't feel nearly as good for smaller hands. The D Pad is very fragile. If you use the D Pad for movement, then be aware that the D Pad on the Tartarus is fragile and you may end up with something that only moves in 3 directions after some months. I actually wish Logitech still produced their G13. May have to eBay one, becuase my luck with the Tartarus gamepads is bad. The D Pad always renders them unusable. My N52 lasted for 14 years (and is still working, gifted to a friend). I can't get these Tartarus to last more than 6-7 months. |
Question: | what is the difference between the mecha-membrane and the mechanical version |
Answer: | Mecha Membrane is a typical modern soft touch quiet keyboard. The softer membrane switches that are common. But good quality ones. The Mechanical is the clicky style full or half stroke mechanical switches similar to the Razer greens or the cherry mx blues. The membrane version is much much quieter, with a softer feel to it. The mechanical has louder distinct clicks and a crisper more solid feel to the keystroke more like an old school keyboard. One isn’t better than the other. It is just a matter of which you prefer and how you learned to type. Do you use a lighter touch on the keys? Is noise an issue in your gaming room? Do you prefer a more solid keystroke with a more distinct activation point? |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work through a KVM switch |
Answer: | I can confirm that it does not work with the TESmart DisplayPort KVM switch. Perhaps it requires a USB 3.0 connector. |
Question: | Is there a print screen button on this keyboard |
Answer: | you can use the meta bindings to map to the Steelseries button + another key. |
Question: | Anyone go from a corsair board to this? Thoughts on comparison mainly from the k95 platinum or k70 mk2 to this apex 7 both with brown switches? thanks |
Answer: | The top of the Apex 7 is plastic (despite being advertised as "aircraft grade aluminum") so it feels cheaper. The customization software is far more intuitive than iCUE and the board can handle 15 hardware effects instead of the 5 on the K95 Platinum or K70 Mk.2 (but it also can't do more via software like the Corsair). No RGB logo/lightbar or dedicated media keys, but instead you get an OLED screen and can still access media keys via the roller and button (the roller clicks down too). |
Question: | States "whisper quiet switches", does it have membrane style switches? Need something more quiet than red switches, which to me are pretty loud |
Answer: | The Apex 3 with the quiet switches is indeed MUCH quieter than any of the other options on the market I have found (including Cherry Red's, etc.). I would absolutely consider this a reduction in noise and is not clicky. Others must be referring to the other various flavors of keys versus this model. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this keyboard have any extra USB ports |
Answer: | The 100 sleeves in their box weighs 12.7 ounces. They are paper and have a plastic see through circle to read the labeled disk without. The box is a fairly light cardboard and is sealed so I can't access a single one without breaking the seal. The back says each sleeve has a back flap to keep the disk secure. They are designed to protect the disc if stored properly. Hope this helps. They are also designed to minimize storage space, unlike hard plastic ones. |
Question: | i am so confused, does the cheaper one DO have or DO NOT have backlighting?? the essential not the expert |
Answer: | The windows are flat and smooth. The whole label can't be read, only a portion of it can. I purchase these sleeves because of the value. Its the inexpensive way to protect a cd/dvd when you give to family or friends. I will purchase more as needed. |
Question: | Whats the difference between the expert version and the essential version |
Answer: | I didn't notice a difference in the paper, but I was disappointed in the fact that the plastic window was wrinkled on all of the sleeves. |
Question: | Can i change the keyboard color to blue instead of green |
Answer: | Hello hi it 1 set 2 speaker 2 tweeters 2 crossover |

User questions & answers
Question: | What's the G light on the top right of the keyboard |
Answer: | It indicates "game mode" where some keys can be temporarily disabled (typically the Win key and Menu key). |
Question: | Is it comparable with Windows XP |
Answer: | The retail box states - Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8 / 7 |
Question: | Is the silver color metallic or matte? How dark is it, grey or very silver |
Answer: | Did you mean its upper closer colour? It is metalic-grey, not silver. If you want to get a silver colour, G413 Silver is the alternative option. |
Question: | why are two usb connections required? I have a laptop with a secondary screen |
Answer: | All I can figue is that they don't want to spend the $5 to integrate a USB hub into the keyboard. Because if you plug both the cables coming from the keyboard into an unpowered hub and then plug the single cable from the hub into your computer, everything works fine. The only thing I can imagine is that the power draw might require more than USB 2.0 can deliver and they don't want to require a USB 3.0 port to plug their keyboard in. However, the fact that keyboards with illumination and USB passthrough exist, and work on USB 2.0, such as the Logitech G19, pretty much destroy my argument for any valid reason for two cables other than simply being cheap and cutting corners. |
