4 best gaming keyboards with usb hubs

Gaming keyboards with built-in USB hubs are designed to provide additional USB ports on the keyboard itself, allowing gamers to conveniently connect other peripherals or accessories without having to reach for the back of their computer. Here are some key points related to gaming keyboards with USB hubs:

  1. Extra USB Ports: These keyboards typically have one or more USB ports located on the keyboard itself. The number of ports can vary, with some keyboards offering two or more for increased connectivity options.

  2. Convenience: Gaming keyboards with USB hubs are convenient because they eliminate the need to access the USB ports on your computer directly. You can easily connect devices like gaming mice, headsets, USB drives, or controllers right at your keyboard.

  3. Data Transfer: These USB hubs are typically USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 ports, which allow for data transfer at various speeds. USB 3.0 is faster than USB 2.0, making it suitable for high-speed data transfers or connecting peripherals like external hard drives.

  4. Charging Devices: Some gamers use the built-in USB hub to charge their smartphones, tablets, or other gadgets, as long as the keyboard is connected to a powered USB port on the computer.

  5. Backlit Keyboards: Many gaming keyboards with USB hubs also feature customizable RGB backlighting, enhancing the gaming experience and aesthetics.

  6. Compatibility: These keyboards are generally compatible with both Windows and macOS systems, but it's important to check compatibility with your specific operating system.

  7. Brand Variations: Various gaming peripheral manufacturers, including Logitech, Corsair, Razer, and SteelSeries, offer gaming keyboards with built-in USB hubs. Each brand may have different designs, key switch options, and additional gaming-specific features.

  8. Price Range: The price of these keyboards can vary widely depending on the brand, features, and build quality. Some models may be more budget-friendly, while others are premium options.

When considering a gaming keyboard with a USB hub, it's important to think about your specific needs and preferences.Consider the number and type of USB ports you require, the key switches you prefer (e.g., mechanical), and any additional features like RGB lighting or programmable macro keys. This will help you choose a keyboard that suits your gaming setup and style.

Monoprice Backlit Macro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with USB Hub, Headset, Microphone Jacks and Cherry MX Red Switches (109181)

Monoprice

Based on 26 reviews Check latest price

Product description

This keyboard uses the industry leading Cherry Red MX switches, which require the least amount of force to actuate the switch. The switches are gold plated to prevent corrosion and have a life cycle of over 50 million keypresses, which is 5-10x more than that of a conventional membrane keyboard.

Typical membrane keyboards, and most mechanical keyboards with a USB interface, only support 6-key rollover (maximum 6 keys registering at a time), but this model supports 64-key rollover, allowing for complex gaming combos as well as faster touch typing with fewer errors.

It includes a built-in macro capability with support for 5 sets of up to 50 macros each. It features a soft-touch, rubberized surface for maximum comfort and includes an attachable wrist rest.

Each key is backlit with a red LED, which allows the keys to be easily identified in low-lighting conditions. The illumination level is adjustable to five levels, including a setting which cycles between minimum and maximum illumination levels.

The keyboard includes a 2-port USB 2.0 hub along with convenient connections for headset/speakers and microphone. It connects to the computer through the USB interface and features a 58" fabric covered cable for maximum durability.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this keyboard have a calculator-style number pad
Answer: Yes it does!
Question: This seems exactly like a max blackhawk, that is 30 bucks cheaper, with the keys and lights i want. i guess my question is, same build quality
Answer: Michael - When I search on amazon for "max blackhawk keyboard", I get no keyboards in the search results. Additionally, I do not own a "max blackhawk" keyboard. So, it's hard for me to answer your question completely. That said, I certainly CAN speak to the build quality of the Monoprice keyboard. It's excellent. I've had the keyboard for over a year, and use it daily for lots and lots and lots of typing. I've recommended this keyboard to friends, and often describe it as the "Bentley Coupe" of keyboards. I love it :)

User questions & answers

Question: What's the G light on the top right of the keyboard
Answer: It indicates "game mode" where some keys can be temporarily disabled (typically the Win key and Menu key).
Question: Is it comparable with Windows XP
Answer: The retail box states - Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8 / 7
Question: Is the silver color metallic or matte? How dark is it, grey or very silver
Answer: Did you mean its upper closer colour? It is metalic-grey, not silver. If you want to get a silver colour, G413 Silver is the alternative option.
Question: why are two usb connections required? I have a laptop with a secondary screen
Answer: All I can figue is that they don't want to spend the $5 to integrate a USB hub into the keyboard. Because if you plug both the cables coming from the keyboard into an unpowered hub and then plug the single cable from the hub into your computer, everything works fine. The only thing I can imagine is that the power draw might require more than USB 2.0 can deliver and they don't want to require a USB 3.0 port to plug their keyboard in. However, the fact that keyboards with illumination and USB passthrough exist, and work on USB 2.0, such as the Logitech G19, pretty much destroy my argument for any valid reason for two cables other than simply being cheap and cutting corners.
