User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work great with Elite: Dangerous |
Answer: | It works great with Elite Dangerous. I have used it for about 2 months. Unfortunately, my number 3 button and the right hat switch stopped working. I used neither switch very much. I'm awaiting a response from Logitech to see if they will replace the stick. |
Question: | Approximately what is the twist (yaw) range, in real-world degrees? And the pitch/roll range |
Answer: | The joystick's handle itself twists approximately 15 degrees to either side for yaw, angles appx. 40 degrees (side to side) for roll, -pitches (forward/down) at appx 45 degrees and +pitches (backwards/up) at 30-35 degrees. What those motions will correspond to will really depend on the application in which they are used. Most flight games have advanced control settings that will let you tailor the response of the aircraft to the range of motion of the stick in advanced or personalized control set up menus. |
Question: | does anyone know if this is compatible with the online game WarThunder |
Answer: | yes, warthunder even has a preset for this the stick. |
Question: | Has anyone tryed it on the game Star Citizen |
Answer: | You should check out Thrustmaster T.16000M. You can try running dual joysticks too for SC, like two of Thrustmaster T.16000M or combine one T.16000M with this Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the difference between this and the earlier version Logitech Extreme 3D |
Answer: | Piffles, it works fine with Windows 8 and 8.1. Enjoy! |
Question: | Is this a usb device |
Answer: | Joystick: base=10.5" Long x 9" wide x 1/8" thick, Stick = 7.5" from baseThrottle: base=10.5" Long x 6" Wide x 2.25" thick, Levers = 5.25" above base or 7.5" including base |
Question: | Does it work on a Mac |
Answer: | The answer is simple and honest... rip the two controls out of the A10 and put them next to the Thrustmaster, main difference is the output. The A10 involves complicated wiring to devices, the Thrustmaster has only 2 USB cables. Otherr than that, the feel, the look, the accuracy is identical. Yes, I had the opportunity to get my hands-on the real thing, though I was not a pilot, only a tech. The enjoyment level is expotentially raised over having to use any other flight controllers including the top of the line other mfg. I have them and there is no comparison. The feel is so tight and responsive on both throttle and stick. The buttons are actual military spec with that definite click to them. Basically you will never have to use your keyboard while flying if you do not prefer as all the main functions are in the Thrustmaster. A perfect, beautifully, realistic replica. Yes, it is expensive, but so are all realistic aviation devices for PC. Compared to them, this is not that much at all for what you get. I never forsee as to any mechanical problems with this, as I have had it for awhile now and gave it many, many fun hours. Oh- the learning curve is a bit steep, but it is the real thing...Take a while to learn all the button functions which are in the 200 area. Trust me, if you are a serious flight simmer who wants only the best, this is it! The buttons are already all pre-confirured for the A10 like the real one exactly, but you can reprogram them anyway you want, plus the software which is very intuitive, has other plane configurations all ready for you at the click of a button. It amazes all my friends, especially with my lights dimmed and the LEDs brightly shining. It is very impressive, it really gives you a feeling of power as you almost think you are in a real A10. Amazon is the best place to purchase from, for price and ease of mind in case you receive a faulty product (I never have in all the years, no RMA's)I only had to contact them once or twice and the reps were very knowledgeable and helpfull. So what are you waiting for? Hurry up and enter the new fascinating world of realistic couch flying. Thrustmaster Warthog=Precision!!! |
Question: | Logitech extreme 3d pro precision fightstick does it have rudder control |
Answer: | To the people saying the A-10 is ugly, i'd have to disagree! The A-10 may be a simple design but its one great looking aircraft and sleek and can hold beyond the ordinance then most attack planes. |

Product description
Saitek continues to lead the market in innovative hardware for the sim enthusiast and just two years ago we launched the X-55 Rhino which continued a logical progression from the venerable X-52 Pro and the unique X-65F. The X-56 Rhino takes all of the feedback that we've received on the X-55 and improves on what was already a very well received product. We've also taken the opportunity to respond to changes in the market. In the two years since the X-55 was launched the simulation landscape has changed with the resurgence of the Space Sim genre; the peripheral market has also seen RGB LEDs become almost standard in high-end products. The Rhino tackles these factors head-on with the inclusion of two mini analog sticks which are ideal for the extra control surfaces present in space sims; and the inclusion of RGB backlighting allows you to match the X-56 with the rest of your rig. The mini analog sticks can be used for vertical, horizontal and lateral thruster control, making docking a cinch; gimballed weapons can be assigned making alternative aiming whilst maintaining spacecraft manoeuvrability much more achievable; you can even assign one of the sticks to function as a mouse cursor. With all of the controls that are now possible to be assigned, this now makes the X-56 even better for use in VR. In VR you need to ensure that all controls are under your fingertips because trying to find your real-world keyboard and mouse with a headset covering your vision is hard enough - knowing which keys you're hitting, even harder! The rest of the main features from the X-55 are retained - the F.E.E.L. adjustable spring tension mechanism; the throttle tension adjuster; the large stable bases which include mounting points for those placing permanently in their cockpit; it truly is the best HOTAS we've ever made.
- Military-grade Space and Flight Sim Precision: The X-56 Rhino delivers a multitude of customizable options including all the control surface options required to achieve the exact level of performance that aspiring combat pilots demand
- New Mini Analog Stick Control Surfaces: Control pitch, roll, yaw, backwards, forwards, up, down, left and right as well as gimballed weapons that are controlled separately from the space craft
- RGB Backlighting: Many PC peripherals now feature RGB backlighting and the X-56 is no exception. Use the software to set the color of the lighting to match the rest of your gaming rig
- Ideal for VR: The X-56 places controls perfectly under your fingers where subtle distinctions in button feel and shape help you navigate the control set with ease.
- Fully Featured HOTAS: Accurate 16-bit aileron and elevator axis with hall-effect sensors. Adjustable Stick Force via Advanced 4-Spring System. Twin Throttles with Friction Adjuster and Throttle Lock
User questions & answers
Question: | Logitech saitek g pro flight x56 rhino hotas for 329.95 different from the logitech saitek g pro flight x56 rhino hotas for |
Answer: | I believe they are the same. Only one x56 Rhino I know of. |
Question: | well the last review was may of 2017, has the quality improved any or is it still a bad buy |
Answer: | I bought this back in January 2018 and returned it the next day. Badly built, extremely flimsy buttons. Not at all what I expected. I would highly recommend you get something else. Skip this one! I ended up buying the Thrustmaster T.16000 FCS HOTAS Controller and WOW... I was totally surprised with this one!! |
Question: | Is that so bad as they describe?? i see Logitech name on it wich means logitech bough the bussines whats your thoughts |
Answer: | While Logitech may improve this model, those currently for sale are still pre-buyout, so they're still "just" Saitek products. I tried this out and had major issues with the throttle assembly's controls triggering at random, so I wound up switching to an X52 Pro. The X52 has been much more solid and reliable, by comparison. I suspect that it will be a while before we start seeing "Logitech produced" versions of these sticks actually hitting retail inventory. |
Question: | This is listed for a price of $249 on Logitech. Why the $399 Jack in price |
Answer: | Because it violates amazons fair price policy. |

Logitech G Saitek Pro Flight X56 Rhino HOTAS
In modern space sims control is becoming more complex than in traditional atmosphere-based flight simulations, with many more inputs required to achieve true control of the space craft. Pitch, roll, yaw, backwards, forwards, up, down, left and right all need to be accounted for. With the addition of gimballed weapons that need to be controlled separately from the space craft, suddenly there’s a lot more control input required.
This is why the new mini analog sticks are required; providing four more axes of control. Assignable to any in-game axis function, or programmable using the included H.U.D. software, running out of control options is no longer an issue.
RGB Backlighting
Many PC peripherals now feature RGB backlighting and the X-56 is no exception. Use the software to set the color of the lighting to match the rest of your gaming rig.
Ideal for VR
Piloting while using VR is a great experience but can prove difficult because you can’t see your own hands, which can make finding the controls you need problematic. The X-56 places controls perfectly under your fingers where subtle distinctions in button feel and shape help you navigate the control set with ease. Even the switches on the base of the throttle are staggered or separated so telling them apart from feel alone is possible, leaving you free to concentrate on the immersive VR experience.
Enhanced Stick Accuracy
During virtual flight – just like true flight – the accuracy of an aircraft's control surfaces is of paramount importance. The X-56 Rhino's control surfaces are incredibly accurate, courtesy of a 16-bit aileron and elevator axis, each employing hall-effect sensors. Developed from the ground up, Saitek's 16-bit axis solution enables extremely precise flight.
Adjustable Stick Force via Advanced 4-Spring System
A ground-breaking, adjustable stick spring system allows pilots to alter the force required to move the stick. Four springs of varying resistance are included to provide a total of five different options. Choose the spring – or no spring at all – which best accommodates your style of flying.
Twin Throttles with Friction Adjuster and Throttle Lock
Using a twin-engine throttle controller is the only suitable method for manipulating a virtual twin-engine aircraft. The X-56 Rhino boasts twin throttles – ideal for situations in which your primary engine is disabled and you're down to one – and also provides the option to adjust the friction required to move them. And if your aircraft of choice is single-engine, a handy throttle lock effectively converts the twin throttles into a single unit.
H.U.D. Configuration Software Enables Programmable Controls
Saitek's software provides the ability to completely customize all of the X-56 Rhino's axes and buttons. On the axis side, you can adjust deadbands and response curves to fine-tune axes to respond just like an aircraft's real-life counterparts. On the buttons and toggle side, you can assign any number of in-sim commands, such as afterburner, Frame Shift Drive, target lock and weapon group firing. The software also allows programmability for an array of mouse and keyboard commands – from basic single-key inputs to very advanced, timed, and macro commands.

The updated X56 HOTAS features a new stealthy black and gray finish. The changes go beyond cosmetic, with engineering updates to address the feedback from the community delivering a more amazing experience for all flight enthusiasts; from fun, plug-and-play gaming all the way to professional fine-tuned simulation. The X56 has a multitude of customizable options, including mini analog sticks to enable true 6 degrees of freedom control of your spacecraft. Featuring 16-bit non-contact sensors, the stick offers the most accurate level of control on the market today; control that you can enhance even further via adjustment of the response curves and deadzones. RGB lighting allows you to customize the appearance of the stick so that it becomes a fully integrated part of your simulation setup.

Question: | Had the g x56 for 5 months, now experiencing ghosting input in the throttle quadrant. any fixes for this. i have heard a powered usb hub fixes it |
Answer: | These are only designed for the Plantronics LEGEND and PRO models. Will not fir other Plantronics model. |
Question: | Does this work on ps |
Answer: | Small is 13mm, medium is 14mm, large is 16mm. |
Question: | Ive heard that the early models were prone to the throttle wires breaking. Has this been rectified |
Answer: | Fabric lined |
Question: | Any changes in build quality vs saitek x56/ logitech x |
Answer: | This is an estimate because I don't have the case with me. I believe it is about 3" long and 2" wide. It is rectangular not square. I actually thought they could have made the case smaller for the amount it holds. If I get my case back really soon I will measure and repost the actual dimensions. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between the x52 and the x52 pro |
Answer: | A couple of buttons are different and material in various parts are better on the Pro version. Functionally they are the same with the same amount of buttons. |
Question: | Does this work with ps |
Answer: | No It's a PC only thing. |
Question: | How well does this work with Elite Dangerous |
Answer: | That's why I bought it... the controller was the original one elite dangerous was designed to work with. It's an excellent choice for it. |
Question: | I have a Mad Catz era X52 Pro which died of bad build quality. Has this model been updated at all since Logitech bought Saitek |
Answer: | Unfortunately, no. Logitech has made no improvement to the quality of the Saitek peripherals. I had an X55 that failed toward th end of the 2 year manufacturer warranty and Logitech failed to honor it. While I went through the obnoxious month long process to try and get Logitech to honor the original warranty on the X55, I foolishly purchased a X52PRO to hold me over. After 4 days the "i" button on the throttle failed. So buyer beware. Ultimately I ended up moving on to the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and I've never looked back. By comparison the Siatek / Logitech gear has the build quality of a child's toy. There is literally no comparison. I realize that the price of the Warthog is steep, but at this point I've spent way more on Saitek gear only to have it all fail. If you do migrate to the Warthog just realize that the flight stick does not twist for yaw control. You can either map yaw to a different control input or I highly recommend purchasing the Thrustmaster flight pedals. I use this setup for Elite Dangerous and it's the best flight control system I've ever had. No regrets. Hope this helps and best of luck! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the throttle work on twin engine aircraft such as the a |
Answer: | Yes. In flight sims if you assign the throttle axis to the throttle input in game, the throttle should operate all engines together like any other throttle. Ive tested it in Xplane. If you want to fly a twin engine plane and control the throttles separately (for aiding in steering on the ground and things like that), you need to use a key binding for the seperate throttle inputs or just drag it with the mouse pointer. You could always assign then to the seperate axises on the throttle but that might be awkard. I use those for prop advance, mixture ect.But for normal flying it works fine. |
Question: | How is this joystick secured to the desk? It seems like with that small base it would slide around a lot especially with the rudder controls |
Answer: | Like Will answered, there are four suction cups on the bottom of both the stick and throttle that, on *some* desks, will work very well (smooth surfaces like glass are best, but an ikea or wooden desk might be hit or miss). With very aggressive joystick movements the base can come up off the desk. Myself personally have not had any issue with it sliding from the rudder/yaw though!Beyond that there are four rubber "feet" that grip fairly well for sliding, however that isn't the problem I had with them. My issue is that the base will "rock" up off the desk with hard throttle input because it's kind of sticky when it's brand new (at least mine was). I rectified this by taking it apart and removing some of the silicon grease used. This loosened it up more than the adjuster on the side allowed for and it's very comfortable now. I also removed the "bump" in it while I was at it, and now the whole thing works perfectly for me.I should add that there are two holes on each base that would allow for a screw or bolt to pass through. Would be rock solid that way if you want to mount them to something! |
Question: | What are the individual footprint dimensions for each (L x W |
Answer: | both sticks have the same footprint which is about 6.75" X 6.75" |
Question: | Can you run a helicopter simulation with these controls? If so, what is a good helicoptor simulator program? Thanks |
Answer: | HOTAS works pretty good for helicopter controls (I've only played ARMA though) but I'd recommend removing the "bumps" in the throttle. It's very easy to do, completely reversible, and helps a ton for helicopter flight! I'd also recommend removing a little of the silicon grease used to lubricated the throttle, as this will help loosen it up more. Cheers!https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115981 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this good for Elite Dangerous |
Answer: | This is very good for Elite Dangerous. I upgraded from a Thrustmaster HOTAS X and am so very glad I did. I can finally be viable with just the joystick. I have two friends that use this as well, and they both use VR so using a keyboard also is not a good option. With this setup, they no longer have to worry about using anything other than this setup. |
Question: | How long is the cord between the throttle and flight stick |
Answer: | There is no cord between them. The each have their own USB cord. And if you have a game that needs then to look like one device, the TARGET software can do that. |
Question: | What's the difference between this and the Logitech Extremem 3d pro |
Answer: | The coincidence is that I have both of them and USE both of them (Dual stick setup) for a game called Star Citizen. I bought the 3D Pro a few years ago and just got hte FCS last December. The main difference is the fluidity of movement from one axial direction to the other. While it may not sound as important, it made a big difference for me in-game. Of course there are more buttons (the 3D Pro has 6 buttons on the left on its base while the FCS has 6 on each side of the base). But in terms of functionality, I'd have to say that the FCS is more comfortable. Also if you're one who does not like the "thumb" rest, you can remove it and replace it with one of the FCS's non-thumb grip which is instead, in-line with the actual stick. This is provided in the box as well. In conclusion, I'd have to say that the FCS would be a good choice. I don't regret my 3D Pro purchase, but if it stopped working, I'd get a second FCS immediately. But for now, the only reason why I'm not getting a 2nd FCS is that the 3D Pro works great still, but does not feel as comfortable as my FCS. Hope I answered well and wasn't sounding like a Thrustmaster advertiser LOL. |
