As far as the age is concerned, I would allow your child to use this unit only for pleasure. Too many of our children today are not using their brains. This is sad. If you ask an 8th grader to read a letter, they have difficulty doing it. Keep helping your child with numbers and adding and subtracting etc. They are not teaching this in schools today and kids graduate who don't know how to multiply 4 X 8.
