But usually when I buy sweaters for my dogs, I just purchase according to the length of their bodies; their necks to wherever I want the garment to stop - usually about an inch before their tails. I've never bought a sweater or anything besides T-shirts that fit them perfectly around their bodies - either too short and fits their bodies or long enough, but too big around the body. I have pretty "standard" sized dogs, so I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this. Best thing is just to make alterations to the sweater to tailor it to your dog's body.
