Answer:	It's not floppy, in that it holds shape well - but it wouldn't hurt with normal childplay. It is firm but not hard.

Answer:	Neither have broken yet - so I don't know for sure what the core is, but I'm guessing it is a firmer foam / rubber material. You can bend it pretty easy and it straightens out.
