Answer:	Yes there are holes and I think they are good sized. I haven't had it out yet this year. We had a 9 month old in it last summer and plan to use it again. It is very well made. I wouldn't leave a child in it without standing right next to them in the water. A very active child could lean forward and tip head first. It's made for babies to float, not learn to swim.
