At first they seemed to float upright (with tails still touching bottom) a little when the water was shallow, and a bit of current from the water from the faucet was moving around. After it was full, a good 5-6" above their upright standing height of their heads, the dolls settled horizontal on the bottom. Hope this helps you in your decision. They are cute little dolls, with movable arms like Barbie type dolls.
