(Just kidding about these last two, imaginary "features." In reality, you're looking more for a style of playing than a particular brand of trumpet. But do think about bore sizes for the lead pipe and mouthpieces you choose because these can either enhance or diminish the brilliance of tone you are likely seeking for your chosen musical genre or specialty). One of her favorite one-liners during sectional rehearsals was, "C'mon, second violins! If I hadn't wanted you to play, I'd have put you on viola!" (No doubt -- some smart-alec out there is going to tell you that the real difference between a violin and a viola is that the viola burns longer!)

Answer:	No, it will not interfere with her learning. It's an excellent way of muting sound and still hear it correctly in the ear. However, I've thought that it's good to hear oneself practice without it being muted. She should be able to do that also. The system does work great.

Answer:	I wouldn’t recommend for marching band. I remember my metal trumpet taking a bit of a beating by the end of a marching band season.
