Answer:	Not sure if it will Rust I don't live in a humid area, but spray it with a coat of clear varathane if it's outside. But what I can tell you for the size it's perfect for me, I put it on my coffee table, and when I have my ceiling fan on it goes around all by itself. Amazing people ask me if it's battery operated I said no not even a timer it's the ceiling fan. Grandkids have more fun looking at it and putting it at places to see what would make it go around. Would I recommend it for someone yes., as a gift or for yourself the price the size everything is perfect. Have fun with it.

But someone else will have to tell you if the magnets are strong enough to support the weight of the fabric. From the description it sounds like it should work.
