Stainless steel pins never wear out and will last a lifetime. These are perfect for use in a wet tumbler for polishing brass, steel, aluminum, or titanium. Most commonly used for brass cartridge cleaning, the .047" diameter prevents the pins from getting stuck side by side in flash holes but they will pass through all flash holes one at a time. Fill your tumbler with pins and brass but be sure to leave space to allow tumbling action. Add clean hot water until the tumbler is nearly full. Cold water will work just fine but hot water cleans faster. Add approximately ½ tablespoon Dawn liquid dish detergent (or comparable brand) per 1 lb of brass. The amount of detergent used is not critical but must be enough to ensure good suds remain at the end of the cycle. Run until clean which is typically between 30 minutes and 2 hours. When first starting out check every 15 minutes to see if additional cleaning is necessary. If you don’t see suds after you open your tumbler either you are not using enough soap or the soap is breaking down from running too long. Optional: To achieve the best possible shine add a tablespoon of Lemi Shine dishwasher detergent powder per 1 quart of water. The active ingredient in Lemi Shine is citric acid which dissolves zinc. Remove, rinse, and separate the brass immediately upon stopping the tumbler. As soon as the agitation stops the dirt will start to stick back on the brass so don’t leave it sitting idle in dirty water. Shake dry the brass in a colander and then pour them into the center of a large towel laid out flat. Gather the corners of the towel and roll them around to remove as much water as possible. From there air dry them several days on plastic trays with an occasional turn.

Answer:	I use 1 pound of pins and soapy water in a 3 pound rock tumbler for cleaning rifle brass.

Answer:	hat depends on what kind of tumbler you have. I have and use the Chicago Dual Drum Rotary Rock Tumbler from Harbor Freight that I use about 3/4 lb of pins in each drum and I can clean approximately 50-75 5.56 cases in 1 hour of tumbling time.
Question:	How many rounds of 5.56 do you guys clean with 2lbs of pins at a time
Answer:	They are quite stiff and more agressive at first, but soften with use. How long they last depends on hours of use and what you're sanding. Sharp edges will leave a noticeable depression in the drum relatively quickly. Flat surfaces are better for the long haul. They never last as long as I wish they would but I start thinking about replacing after maybe 25 solid hours of use on variety of wood species, sanding old and rough barn timbers. You can use them longer than that, but it takes longer the softer and shorter the bristles become.

Answer:	The pellets are used for filler in the tumbler so that the tumbling action between the rocks and grit work more effectively.
Question:	What are the pellets for and how do you use them
Answer:	Yes it can. Just skip the coarse step as vibratory polishers work much faster than tumblers and will not round the rocks as well as a rotary tumbler. I always do two to 4 weeks of coarse in a rotary then finish in a vibratory.

Answer:	Yes, it does. Use 2 Tbs. grit for every pound of rock for Steps 1 & 2. Use 1 Tbs. grit for every pound of rock for Steps 3 and 4. If you have alot of empty space in the tumbler, use the ceramic cylinders to get the tumbler to about 2/3 full. Instructions are included with the kit.

Answer:	I only use this in a rotary tumbler. They do wear, but very slowly. I have about six months of run time on my current set and expect it to outlast my tumbling career.

Answer:	I looked it up. They're made in the USA at Polyplastics in Farmington Hills, Michigan
Question:	Where are this made
Answer:	The ceramic is generally used to cushion the stones or glass, in your case, during tumbling. It will have some abrasive action but it is very smooth. You will probably also need some silicone carbide grit along with the ceramic to smooth out the glass. If it is rough, you would start with Stage 1 or Stage 2 grit, then go to Stages 3 or 4. If it is already smooth, you can start with Stage 3 and finish with Stage 4. If you want a rougher frosted look, don't use Step 4. Run the tumbler 2-3 days at each step and check whether you are getting the effect you like. You can use the ceramic during every step. Just rinse it off the grit between stages. Hope that helps.

Answer:	A bit rough for burnishing. Plastic pellets or rouge walnut shells or other plastic media products are better for burnishing.

Answer:	No, you want to use crushed walnut shells for reloading.

Answer:	I wouldn't put new ceramic media into the polishing phase because it might scratch the polished rocks. I always keep some ceramic media that has been through a couple of cycles and has all the sharp edges worn down. I can use the worn media in the polishing phase and not have to worry about scratching the polished rocks.
Question:	Can i use this product in polishing phase only
Answer:	There is plenty ceramic pellets for 2, 3# barrels. Remember, when you load what ever you're tumbling, the barrels should be about half full. If not, add pellets to make up the difference. Wash and reuse the pellets.

Using a stainless steel media is important to avoid rust and works great for wet tumbling. The abrasion resistance of stainless steel media is 3-5 times greater compared to cast steel media. These shapes were design with purpose- The diagonal shape is useful to reach the recesses and corners using the tips and peaks. The Balcone shape allows you to reach the difficult access holes and slots, and last but not least the ball shape is good for ball burnishing process, and as a result you have an excellent shiny finish!

Answer:	The large is used as a filler and lasts longer than the small. The small ceramics are used for cushioning and helps improve the tumbling action. If you are looking for the benefits of both, then the mixed is what I would recommend. I typically use whatever I happen to grab - small, large, or mixed and have been happy with the results on the agates I tumble.

Answer:	Yes, Just wash thoroughly with your rocks between steps to make sure all grit is removed. Some people do have a separate set of ceramic media to use strictly for polishing, but I have not felt there has been a need to this.

Answer:	These are all 304 stainless

As recommended, the same pellets should be used throughout the tumbling process, all stages. That way, the pellet surface gets the same abrasion that the rocks do. If you used new pellets in later stages, they would be more abrasive and could actually work against the tumbling media you are using.

Question:	Is it tough enough to remove mild corrosion marks on rifle brass
Answer:	The product isn’t designed for sandblasting, as you are aware, and has a compound added to it which is great for tumbling; however, the grit varies and the additives could be a respiratory problem. Not certain I would use for blasting as is, I do think a product without rouge added would be worth trying.
Question:	My sandblaster accommodates 46-100 grit media. What is the "grit" of this stuff? I'm blown away it doesn't say on the packaging
Answer:	Walnut is a hard shell that works well with polishing. Use a media that does not have color.
Question:	What media to use to polish rocks
Answer:	The Lyman Tufnut Plus Relaoding Media (as all of the Corncob and Tufnut medias) are a 12/20 grit. We will call it medium.
