It may last her till she's 5 because she's small for her age and will probably always be a petite little girl. She takes the drumstick and tries to copy her uncles rock speed drumming! My son got a small real drumset... (not so much a "toy") ... for his girlfriend's 5 1/2 year old boy (loves it). I think it was about $300.

Answer:	A child can tap stick to hollow instrument, being hollow makes different sounds tapped in different spots. Rub stick up and down ridges similar to playing a wash board. Ideal for two small hands. My grandson and great nephews still go straight for this music box when they are together.

Answer:	This set is more for ages 4 and up. I wouldn't let a child chew on it as it is made of metal & wood. The paint &/or wood could come off if it were chewed on. It's a great set for older little ones though!

Question:	Would this be a good gift for a one year old
Answer:	It was a gift for our 9 month old baby this past Easter as he was using his hands constantly to "bang" and make noise. He loved it! He goes to the toy shelf daily and gets turtle drum out. He's more interested in the other instruments now though like the shakers. It was a great purchase. It's made really well, no thinness. The pieces are very large as well for those little hands. I would buy again. Later when baby is too big, I will be able to either give it to another baby in our extended family and it will be in good enough condition to sell!
