Letter mode and music mode are just pushing the letters/instruments button to hear their sounds. There are good for babies. Spelling mode and game mode are the quiz what you can hear. There are good for two to three years old. Jukebox mode can make your own rhythm with instruments and also add letters sounds there. This mode is good for everyone. My children like this very much. My first language is Japanese, I don't know how native speakers might think, but my three years old son who is in the american school likes this toy.

Answer:	No, you definitely can't type on this thing. You can press buttons and see the letter and hear it but you don't actually type. The screen is very small. I don't know of any child laptops that do that. The learning system things sometimes do have a mini-app that has a keyboard on a touch screen and you can technically "type" a couple of words on that onto a text bar.

Answer:	My 3 year old has the pink one, it has about 10 songs, including, "abc" "123" "if you're happy and you know it". There are also a few instrumental versions of songs (without the words). There are other songs, but those are the three that my toddler listens to the most. But it has helped her learn her alphabet, and counting to twenty.

Question:	When i bought this in april it was $15.88. now it's $25. will the price drop again
Answer:	Prices fluctuate based on supply and demand. It is likely but not certain that the price will drop.
Question:	Is there a way to disable or turn off the blue light? My son likes to keep Scout in his crib when he sleeps. But the blinking light is too bright at night
Answer:	There is no "official" easy way to turn the light off. I'm sure you could dig under his light and snip a wire. You might could even remove the light completely. But not sure how safe it would be to tamper with his electronics. Thinking outside of the box, maybe try cutting Scout off at the battery pack at night and playing a CD instead? That way he would have a non-blinky Scout but still have soothing music. Sorry, that's all I can think of.
Question:	How can you close the back with the battery pack inside? I can't, the velcro cannot be put together box is too big for the body
Answer:	The item that I have on amazon is just like the one you sent a pic of the battery box has to be pushed all the way in,you may have to rotate the battery box a little .but it should fit fine so you close the velcro back.
Question:	Scout vs the "fisher-price laugh & learn smart stages puppy toy" for a one year old -- similarities/differences, your preference
Answer:	Friends of mine are expecting their son soon. The Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy toy was on their baby gift registry. I told them I would get that puppy, if they'd like, but asked if they knew about Scout. Comparing the two products they went with Scout. I LOVE Scout and Violet! My grandchildren have formed a relationship with their personal puppy. There are many more activities one can do with Scout and Violet, PLUS the parents can program the lessons they want the baby to learn as well as the dog calling the child by their name. So Scout and Violet will grow with your child. Three of my grandchildren are past the end age on the box, but love cuddling and listening to their special puppy when traveling and going to bed. I only wish that Fisher Price would make a cat version.

Answer:	The basket is a sturdy plastic with a removable liner. The liner that we received was not yellow with white trim, but a red and white gingham pattern with white trim.
